Random Ramblings; Myriad Musings

All righty, fellow freaks and geeks, nerds and ‘Blerds,’ Dudes and Dudettes, Cosplayers and ERPers…are ya doing anything this weekend? Stuck inside because of the weather or some seasonal bug going around the office or school? Are you bored shitless with your current game (or waiting to buy a new one?), movie, or other guilty pleasure and just looking for something different, and perhaps fun? Well, check this out: The good people at Zenimax Online® Studios (ZOS), in their infinite wisdom, are opening up the virtual world of The Elder Scrolls® Online to all – whether you’re a complete and total newb, or a long-timer who just let your account lapse, come join in on the fun and see what’s what!

As a disclaimer, I get no monetary compensation for this shameless advertising and promotion of this game…I’m simply hoping to add to my roster of friends and guild…

Tuesday Tunes!

I was so excited yesterday…I thought that my computer issues had miraculously resolved themselves, somehow! I managed to record 12 minutes of gaming footage for the first time since February of this year – but was unable to upload it to YouTube, which should have told me that there was still a problem. When I tried to do a test broadcast, it was CRASH city all over again, and now it’s back to the same old, same old crash and burn when I try to record. Back to square one! On the plus side, though, I managed to get my webcam to work…it didn’t like the USB ports on the topside, but had no issues with the ones on the back of the computer – there are four in all on the back, and three on the top – so I’ll be able to do some vlog tests soon! With One Tamriel launching tomorrow, there’s a 50 / 50 chance that gaming will be a hassle while the ZOS people do their expected, post-launch hotfixes – so I might have time before the weekend! Feel free to check out the gaming footage here, if you’re so inclined.

I’m going to do a bit of grinding for now…I need to get a few of my toons to veteran level, and I’ve neglected my poor guild horribly lately – I need to do some recruiting, LOL!

In the meantime, enjoy these three random songs – cheers, all!

Scenes From PAX West 2016!

I finally “cracked the code” that allowed me to download my pictures from cell-phone to computer…success, in spite of Mercury Retrograde!
😎

Please enjoy these select scenes from PAX West 2016, held at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, Washington from Friday, 2 September – Monday, 5 September. It was crowded as hell, and the Friday traffic was the worst – we had to drive through three different parking garages until we found one that had spaces left! $27 – $30 (USD) per day, all four days…parking cost the most, I think!

The game “Magic: The Gathering” had something going on at the Paramount Theatre, just up the block. This moving sculpture was leading a parade up the street:

I could only get the backside of this nice costume:

Inside, these two struck a pose:

…and this guy was trying out a Virtual Reality (VR) game:

Took a break for lunch at the Daily Grill, an excellent restaurant to stop in at for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! This appetizer was divine: lightly seared ahi tuna crusted with sesame seeds; pickled cucumber, pickled ginger, and deep-fried spinach…it was fantastic!

Back inside, I saw some cool sculptures that commanded attention:

…and, I met a fellow ESO gamer who was more than happy to join my tiny guild – meet Morgueblade!

Here are some random shots of the Bethesda room, where all of the ESO stuff was going on:

…and finally, a few pictures of the team that puts this awesome game together! It was neat to meet them face-to-face and talk with them…they’re a decent bunch of people!

That’s all for now…I hope that you liked the pictures!

I Survived PAX West 2016!!!

Holy shit on toast, Batman…I survived my first convention! Damn, was it crowded…but it was hellaciously fun!!! Meeting the Bethesda ESO team was a kick in the pants; I got some free game codes to hand out to my niece and nephews, there were some awesome costumes and displays to take pictures of, and I got a few nice T-shirts: one was free; two were not…but the free stuff wasn’t bad at all, LOL!

All four days went by very quickly – which means that I had a great time. Time flies when you’re having fun, after all! The crowds bothered me far less than I thought that they would, and I was happy to see hand sanitizer stations everywhere: outside of the restrooms, near the elevators and escalators, and right outside of the “Arena” – the place in the convention center where consoles and PCs were set up for anyone and everyone to jump on and play whichever game they wanted.

There were even four consoles and four PCs set up in the Bethesda room, all loaded up with the ESO North American (NA) client and the Public Test Server (PTS) – the newest update (12), which introduces One Tamriel and the dueling system, was a ton of fun to test out while they streamed LIVE ON TWITCH, all four days! I got completely rekt by one of the gaming designers, and my smiling face can be seen…it was all too awesome!

Time for me to catch up on some blog reading and writing; test out different in-game settings and recording settings, and check out the options that OSB and Xplit provide if the setting changes don’t work. My new webcam also arrived, so I plan on hooking it up to see how it performs – but only after I get the pictures downloaded from my phone, LOL! I took quite a few that I’m looking forward to posting…I hope that they turn out!

It’s Friday and I’m in a fantastic mood…enjoy this bit of random silliness to get your weekend started! I’ll be making the rounds through your blogs tonight and over the next few days – it’s nice to be back home.

As a disclaimer, I get no monetary compensation for this shameless advertising and promotion of this game…I’m simply hoping to add to my roster of friends and guild members in-game, and it won’t cost you a cent! If any of you do happen to get in on this sweet deal, feel free to leave your character name in the comments section here, or in the ‘Open Thread’ when the comments section in this thread times out…and let me know which alliance your toon is in! I play on the North American (NA) server, so…hope to see you there!

Just in case you haven’t seen it in any of my previous posts, here is the best trailer for the game – and yes, the graphics ARE that awesome!

***UPDATED Thursday, 10 December***

The Elder Scrolls® Online weekend promotion is in full swing and going well, so far! I currently have 20 guild-members and 100 people on my “friends” list, and will add more over the next few days if I’m able to! I was hoping to have my computer upgraded by now, so as to enter the PvP area with no latency or graphics issues, but the parts I’m waiting for haven’t arrived at the computer store yet. Patience is a virtue in the month of December, and I think that I need to slow down a bit and try to socialize with my new on-line and in-game acquaintances, so I’m doing my best at that. I’m looking forward to player housing, steam-punk costumes, and new pets to show off!

If any of you are participating, I play the PC version of the game – which allows me to play and communicate with Mac users as well. If you play a console version, though, we will never meet…consoles and computers are on completely different platforms, unfortunately! I play on the North American (NA) server and am on Pacific Standard Time (-8 GMT), so I hope to see at least ONE of you there, LOL

Feel free to let me know your in-game name – just leave it in the comments section – and if you’re with the pact, the covenant, or the dominion. If you’d like, I will only note it for myself and delete the comment without publishing it, if you’d prefer some privacy. Either way, I’ll be sure to seek you out…so, I hope to see you there!

🙂
