Five On Friday: Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2018

For today’s “Five on Friday” post I decided to play one song each from my top five artists who were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year. Choosing one good song from these talented people was difficult, but I managed to narrow it down.

Friday Flashback: Weekend Fun

I found a few more photos that seemed alright to share, so here they are: scenes from the Puyallup Fair, where I first got to see the Moody Blues in concert; and the well-known, annual, Seattle Seafair! I also decided to add two old gaming screen-shots, and a Moody Blues song that I enjoy almost as much as ‘The Voice’ – I hope that you like it, too.

😎

The Moody Blues in concert, sans orchestra…and a couple of people sailing in for a touchdown.

…a massive military jet…and the Navy’s Blue Angels!

Entertainment at a backyard party – tons of fun!

The Music & Words Award!!!

I have to thank T. Wayne from the A Joyful Process blog for this open nomination of this brand-new (for me) award! Music and words are two things in life that I own, master, and live. They have been key and instrumental in my life for as long as I can remember, and they have gotten me through some of the worst times in my life!

Here are the rules for this award:
1. Link back to the person who nominated you.
2. Answer the questions within, with words AND music.
3. Pass the award to 5 bloggers who inspire you with posts about music.
4. Tag your post with #MWA, for Music & Words Award so we can all follow you down the line.
5. List these rules in your post.

So, here are the questions.

WHAT DOES MUSIC MEAN TO YOU?

Everything…music is life, it is emotion, and it conveys depth of thought and mood when words fail. This instrumental by Pink Floyd, titled “Signs of Life,” is one of many which does so for me.

WHAT IS YOUR FIRST MUSIC RELATED MEMORY?

I was laying underneath a grand piano while someone played it beautifully – I watched feet working the pedals and listened to how they changed the tone of the song. I think that I was 3 or 4 years old, then…

WHAT’S THE FIRST ALBUM YOU’VE PURCHASED YOURSELF?

Adam & the Ants: “Kings of the Wild Frontier” and “Prince Charming.” I was probably the only person in my tiny school who liked Adam & the Ants, and I was soundly mocked by everyone I knew! I never understood why my taste in music was something to be made fun of, especially when those same people marveled at my knowledge of Black Sabbath, Quiet Riot, Jethro Tull, and many other bands. I realized that they were limited and expected the same of me…and I will never allow myself to be limited by others. Ever. The song “Prince Charming” sums it up!

WHAT IS THE LATEST MUSIC YOU’VE PURCHASED? (NO ONLINE STREAMING OR FREE DOWNLOADS – I’M TALKING ABOUT CASH HERE!)

The Best of David Bowie and Blackstar by…the late, great, ever-missed David Bowie. I love the song “Lazarus” – the saxophone speaks eloquently.

WHAT SONG DID YOU LISTEN TO LAST? (NO CHEATING – COME OUT WITH THE GUILTY PLEASURES, AND BE HONEST!)

“The Voice” by the Moody Blues…it is, always has been, and always will be one of my top favourite songs.

My nominees:

The rules say to nominate 5 other bloggers, but I think that everyone that I wish to nominate has an “award-free” blog. Anyone who reads this post and wishes to participate may do so…just follow the rules to the best of your ability, please!
XD

Friday song: “The Voice” – The Moody Blues

The Moody Blues is another band I absolutely adore, and The Voice is my favorite song by them. I save the ticket stubs of concerts I’ve been to, and I’ve seen them a total of 5 times in various venues.  They sound much better with the orchestra backing them up, as many of their songs were written specifically for that!
Here it is, for your listening and viewing pleasure…I like the space scenes and outdoor landscapes shown.

The Moody Blues: “The Voice

Won’t you take me back to school
I need to learn the golden rule
Won’t you lay it on the line
I need to hear it just one more time
Oh won’t you tell me again
Can you feel it
Won’t you tell me again
Tonight

Each and every heart it seems
Is bounded by a world of dreams
Each and every rising sun
Is greeted by a lonely one
Oh won’t you tell me again
Can you feel it
Oh won’t you tell me again
Tonight

‘Cos out on the ocean of life my love
There’s so many storms we must rise above
Can you hear the spirit calling
As it’s carried across the waves
You’re already falling
It’s calling you back to face the music
And the song that is coming through
You’re already falling
The one that it’s calling you

Make a promise take a vow
And trust your feelings it’s easy now
Understand the voice within
And feel the changes already beginning
Oh won’t you tell me again
Can you feel it
Won’t you tell me again
Tonight

And how many words have I got to say
And how many times will it be this way
With your arms around the future
And your back up against the past
You’re already falling it’s calling you
On to face the music
And the song that is coming through
You’re already falling
The one it’s calling is you

Each and every heart it seems
Is bounded by a world of dreams
Each and every rising sun
Is greeted by a lonely one
Won’t you tell me again
Can you feel it
Oh won’t you tell me again
Tonight
