Full Moon Midweek Musings…10 May 2017

The weather has been pretty nice for almost a week now! It’s a refreshing change from all of the rain we’d been having. The rain has been about average for this time of year, but the temperatures aren’t!

At this time last year, temperatures here on the Washington coast were in the mid-70s, with the lows hovering around the mid- to low 50s. This year, the highs are in the mid-50s, and the lows still drop to the low 40s! This morning is the third straight one where I could stand outside on the deck in my robe and not feel as if my legs would freeze off. It will be nice when it gets warmer, but it seems as if that won’t happen until the end of this month at the earliest.

Still working on clearing away shrubbery from around the house and the garage, and getting ready to move and transplant the bamboo jungle which we let go wild for a bit. It’s amazing how quickly it grows in ideal conditions; the last two years have seen it explode, and even this year there is still noticeable “creepage,” for lack of a better term! The bamboo that we have is the type that expands outward, so we can see where it is heading from the way the new shoots are erupting. Definitely fascinating to watch!

The roof on the house is scheduled to be re-shingled in August. A leak developed due to some of the shingles being slightly lifted when the winds from storms loosened some of the staples holding them down. It’s time to replace all with some better ones which have a longer warranty and are installed properly and securely! The winds blow strong here when the storms come through, so coastal houses tend to get battered a bit more than those on the lee side of even small mountain ranges.

There’s a full moon in Scorpio today, and I have a nice, lazy, relaxing day on tap. The Seattle Mariners will be facing the Philadelphia Phillies in a bit, so it’s time for me to get some game-time of my own in. Feel free to click on the link here and watch the action! Broadcasting will begin at 1100 PDT. Later, ‘gators!

Just A “Quickie,” LOL!

I just got back from a small trip to visit family and attend a couple of events, so I’ll catch up on my followed blogs over the next couple of days. I have a buttload of pictures to sort through and will get caught up on my posts soon; I thought that some music would suffice for the time being. Enjoy these three songs which might seem unrelated on the surface, but are actually connected. The connection is only obscure if you overthink it and don’t bother asking the obvious question, LMAO!

I shall return…

Midweek Memes: Administrative Professionals Day 2017!

There is a New Moon today, coinciding with the Cassini spacecraft making the final moves in its nearly 20-year space exploration mission by diving between the planet Saturn and its innermost rings. These aerial gymnastics will ultimately doom the spacecraft, as it will burn up in the tumultuous atmosphere of the gas giant, or be pulverized by the crushing gravity as it gets closer to the core. I look forward to the final pictures that Cassini will beam back! Astronomy and space exploration have fascinated me from an early age. I would gaze at the night skies for hours on clear, warm nights when I lived in places away from the light-pollution of cities…I still do, sometimes!

Now, on to the subject of this post: Administrative Professionals Day! When I was still a slave to the 40-hour week, I mainly worked as an Administrative Assistant. That all-purpose title covers multiple duties! Receptionist: answering phones, greeting people, and setting up weekly business meetings and conference calls, and daily kitchen / cafeteria stocking and cleanup. Office Manager: making travel reservations, including car rentals and reservations for hotels, airlines or trains; ordering and stocking office supplies, doing minor tech support for office equipment, telephones and computers, and contacting building management for issues related to elevators, plumbing, and AC issues. I would even fill in as an HR assistant at some places: filing resumes, setting up cubicles or offices for new employees, updating employee information, ordering business cards, and dealing with OSHA paperwork when working for subcontractors.

Being an Administrative Professional, no matter your title, is quite an involved line of work. There is much you must know, and quite a bit of demands are made of you on any given day – some more demanding and ridiculous than others! Still, it was an enjoyable line of work because of the challenges it provided. I’m never one to shy away from a challenge, and knowing that it took at least three people to do the work that I did is something that I’m incredibly proud of. I always worked hard; if it was unappreciated, then that’s their loss – not mine. My health and outlook on life improved dramatically once I left the last place I worked at, and now I’m able to keep my own schedule with a small, part-time job which allows me to work from home. I might not make as much as I used to, but the non-monetary benefits are worth their weight in gold.

With that, enjoy these funny memes about Administrative Professionals Day – I hope that those who are enduring it are doing so with a smile, and these should help those smiles be genuine and HUGE!

Friday Fun: Miscellaneous Memes & Music!

I think that it’s time for a few Friday memes, followed by a bit of music! The sun is out today, so it’s time to ride over to the beach and take a walk on the sand. Later, ‘gators!

Tuesday Tuneage: Happy Dance Time!

Ah, life is sweet! My Seattle Mariners have been playing better and pulled themselves out of last place in the AL West. Their sweep against the Texas Rangers was delightful to watch, and seeing Ichiro Suzuki back at Safeco Field, even wearing a Miami Marlins uniform, was awesome. That’s true loyalty right there: when a player has been long gone from a team, yet are still given the red-carpet treatment when they return to a baseball or football field, even as an opponent. Ichiro was a monumental part of the Mariners team for quite a while, and his outstanding performance is still being honoured and celebrated – and that kicks ass, in my opinion!

😄

I also received a fantastic bit of news yesterday, which was added to earlier this morning – so, I’m in a celebrating sort of mood! Things like this should be savoured…much like a perfectly ripe peach, a fine wine, a good book, or a nice piece of chocolate. Sit in the moment and just enjoy it – I know that I am! Here are five celebratory songs to get the party started. It’s dancing time!

Random Saturday Scenery…18 March 2017

I felt like revisiting some photographs that I took whilst travelling in 2010. It’s been a while since I posted photos that I took myself, so this is as good a day to do it as any other, no? Pleasant, serene, and / or soothing scenery always makes for some nice viewing, IMHO.

Midweek Memes for the Ides of March – 2017!

My March birthday celebrations begin today, with not one, not two, but three family members who share the Ides of March as their birthdate! My personal celebration begins this Friday and goes for an entire week, because hey – when I was born, they broke the mold – so, why stick to only one day of fun and festivities?

Anyway, enjoy these midweek memes for the Ides of March – Caesar, beware!

😄

Tuesday Tuneage: Pi Day!

Today is Pi Day – a fun day for we nerds, geeks, mad scientists, and / or genius IQs! I missed out on posting some Monday music, so here are some Tuesday tunes which may, or may not, have anything to do with Pi Day. Later, ‘gators!
