This is excellent – a wonderful poem from the creative mind of Vijaya!

Come, lift your hands in praise.
Praise the woman who stands
Smiling, calm, unbent in the gale,
Maligned and slandered.

Praise the steely strength
The resolve that could move mountains
The centre of peace that allows
Her boat to bob on the waves
As she rows, tirelessly
To unknown terrain, but which exist,
For she mapped them out.

Praise the larger purpose
Which is her rudder, and her guide
The larger purpose and the greater good.
Beyond her own needs, the needs of her kin,
Lies the greater good of all,
And she will not be satisfied until
She works till the end of her life for it.

Praise her, and help her.
Guide her, too, for she is not infallible,
And she sometimes mistakes the way.

Praise her, and help her.
But while she has no need of praise,
She has deep need…

Eastern Sierra High~

Beautiful landscape – nature’s panorama, perfectly captured by Cindy!

Today we hiked the Crystal Lake Trail in The Eastern Sierra,

with a brave friend who led the way and cut in front on high altitude precipices!

We climbed 1,000 vertical feet starting at a base of 8900 ft,

passing many pristine alpine lakes,

and making a few nice friends en-route!
Tomorrow we go higher starting at a base of 9,900 ft and heading up into Tioga Pass, land of no wifi, so I will hopefully be back in touch the day after tomorrow.
Cheers to you from the high Sierras~

A Marathon Runner And a Stray Dog

If this doesn’t make you feel warm and fuzzy, I don’t know what will!

She is so tiny that her head didn’t even reach his knee but the stray dog still kept the pace for Dion Leonard in the desert heat. The ultramarathoner came to rely on the little dog as he ran through the Gobi in China

This young man is awesome!

Remember the Maryland boy who in 2015 became the first child in the world to receive a double hand transplant? Well, he just threw out the first pitch at an Orioles game.

Zion Harvey, who lost both hands and feet to a severe infection as a baby, was 8-years-old last summer when a surgical team of 40 at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia worked ten hours connecting bone, blood vessels, nerves, muscles, tendons and skin to give him two new hands.

Harvey has been working ever since to regain hand function through rigorous therapy sessions.  On Tuesday, he threw out the ceremonial first pitch for his hometown Orioles.  “Never give up on your dreams, it will come true,” Harvey told WJZ last year.
