Full Frontal Thursday: No Moore, Ryan Zinke, & La Brigada Feminista

In this installment of “Full Frontal Thursday,” Sam discusses the results of the election in Alabama. She also shines the spotlight on Ryan Zinke. He is the U. S. Secretary of the Interior who claims to believe in climate change, but refuses to do anything that might slow it down.

Finally, she goes to Mexico City to speak with members of La Brigada Feminista, a group of women who wanted to help with rescue efforts following the devastating earthquake there. For some reason, their assistance wasn’t wanted. Instead of being welcomed with open arms, they received death threats.

Mmmmmm…Mushrooms…

Portobello mushrooms stuffed with onion, shallots, diced tomatoes, spinach, and aged white cheddar cheese. I’m having one with my soup for lunch, and one with steak and salad for dinner. I’ll try to save half of one for the hubster, as he is sure to be hungry when he gets back from getting parts for our various vehicles!

I Love My Locs!

(Image found on Pinterest)

I’ve been caring for my natural dreadlocks for two years. They were down to the small of my back!

I went in the other day to have them professionally tended and touched up by a hairstylist, who was referred by a lovely young mother who was visiting the area with her husband and two small children. Five inches of hair was trimmed off, so now my ‘locs are just past my scapulae. No worries, though. By this time next year, they just might be long enough to touch the top of my butt.

That, to me, is the definition of “good” hair. If it is on your head and grows well with good care, then you have “good” hair!

It always feels good to get pampered – I recommend a “beauty” day once in a while. Yes, men, this applies to you all as well.

Tuesday Tunes: Depeche Mode

I’ve begun bookmarking selected blogs for reading again, and have followed a few. One author recently did a post mentioning the music of Depeche Mode, and I had almost forgotten how many hits they had. The stations that I listen to on a regular basis don’t play this band very often at all. Here are three songs of theirs which I have always enjoyed; I would love to see the video for the second song updated to reflect current political happenings!

Sunday Music: The Great American Nightmare

I’m sorting screen-shots and editing excerpts for posting. Excerpts are being posted and published elsewhere, since posting them on this platform wasn’t working! I’ve found a better spot which gets more views and where real people actually respond with real feedback.

Gaming will commence in an hour or so. Now that the in-game event and contest is over with, the population has returned to the usual weekend level and broadcast of gaming progress is doable. Feel free to click the link here and watch the fun if you wish.

For now, here’s a song that I enjoy when in the midst of a heavy castle-capture. It always has to be loud in order to hear it above the screams of rage on TeamSpeak! ROFL

Reactive Blogging?

I celebrated my 7-year “Blog-o-versary” in October of this year. I don’t think that I’m a novice to this blogging thing. There was virtually no traffic here for the first couple of years; I wasn’t able to post very often due to job responsibilities, and the only comments I received were spam. I only followed a handful of blogs at that time – less than 10, I think – and while I would ‘Like’ posts, I wouldn’t comment and I didn’t follow anyone. I simply didn’t have the time.

After I left my last full-time job and began scheduling my own work on my own time, I had more time to read other blogs in depth. I began following more, commenting once in a while, and re-blogging others – possibly in excess, but I meant no harm. I thought that displaying a genuine interest in others and engaging in conversations would make it easier to meet and connect with others. I hoped to have conversations with others who might share my interests in recreational activities such as music, travel, cooking, reading, writing, gaming, anime and cosplay, or attending fun events involving same. I was doing my due diligence and actively ‘connecting with others’ in this supposedly supportive blogging community.

According to the self-described blogging experts out there, all of the time and energy that I’ve invested in other people’s blogs just isn’t enough to generate traffic. Meanwhile, there are brand-new, poorly-written blogs out there which are springing up like weeds and mysteriously have hundreds of followers. Keep in mind that I had slowly grown my following to a little over 300 followers, and only recently dumped the blogs which are inactive or have been deleted by the author or by WordPress. Most others who used to follow me made themselves absent after certain political events worldwide occurred – there’s nothing I can do about that!

I decided to pose a question to a blogger who has tens of thousands of followers, on a post of theirs titled “Reactive networking / Blogging.” In their post, they state this:

Blogging lesson for the day is on reactive networking.

You’ll often hear bloggers state what they dislike with blogging. They’ll complain about the driveby reader or someone who just presses “like” on their posts. These bloggers are so busy complaining about blogging that they miss the opportunity it is giving them…The problem is that most people want interaction without ever giving it first. That is very hard to obtain. I network reactively most days and don’t browse the new pool of bloggers as much…Someone that just likes your posts doesn’t mean they are a spammer or they are trying to trick you…why not visit a few people today that just leave likes. Interact back and a bit further than them and see where it takes you. Networking is a push of many fronts, not just one.

My thought is this: “reactive” blogging is all well and good, and it obviously works for a lot of people. I opt for the proactive and interactive method, myself. Those who don’t want to interact with me aren’t going to, and all the helpful advice in the world isn’t going to change that. A reflex is a reaction, after all. It doesn’t take much time to do, and requires absolutely no thought.

Observing the blogging and commenting patterns of other bloggers, and making the casual comment about same, isn’t complaining. It shows that I’m actually reading and paying attention.

Isn’t that the important thing?

ROFLMAO @ Selective Censorship

I decided to do a little test today. I made yet another bet with myself, and won. If I had $10 (USD) for every time this has happened, I would have been a wealthy woman by the age of 21.

Racist stereotypes and / or attacks: A-OK.

Misogynist and Misogynoir hate-mongering: perfectly fine.

Saying that someone appears to be “on the spectrum”: Strictly VERBOTEN!

Go figure.

Full Frontal Thursday: Taxes, Creepy Men, and North Korea

After a small break, Ms. Bee is back! In this installment she talks about the “Greatest Tax Bill Ever Sold,” breaks down the numbers of men who have engaged in sexual impropriety, and sits down to talk about North Korea with actual Koreans.

Change Is Good

I’m pleased to say that some of the seeds planted over the past couple of years have finally begun to flourish and blossom! Looking forward to 2018 with a renewed sense of accomplishment. It will be time to travel again, and I can’t wait to set wheels back on the road.

Repetition and stagnation work for some. It has never worked for me. The proof is undeniable now.

Changes will be coming to my little blog in the new year. Nothing drastic, but it is well past time to do a bit of updating, fine-tuning, and re-branding. I hope that you will join me on the new adventures which are sure to follow!

It Arrived!

The “Brack Flyday Bunduru” of stuff that I ordered was delivered today! Here is what arrived:

– Two Sabrent (TM) USB 3D stereo headset adaptors.

– One Logitech (R) G13 Advanced Gameboard.

– Three 2018 calendars; one for my home office, one in the main hallway, and one in the bedroom. They are always of a picturesque nature and vary from year to year.

– Assorted beauty products for my winter skin-care regimen.

The last thing that I’m waiting for is an order from Tommie Copper, as more exercise / gaming gear is needed! Should be here no later than Friday, 15 December.

The only thing I have on my “wish list” is a NordicTrack Freestride trainer. I need to get rid of my outdated elliptical, which was used when I bought it eight years ago. Time to upgrade!
