Tuesday Tidbits: 24 January 2017

I wanted to get this post up before I get busy! I’m going to be tied up for the next few hours with my computer. This is the one that I had built in August of last year, but it was crashing and malfunctioning horribly, so it had to go back to the computer guy and the shop it was built at. I kept telling him, “Hey, there’s an issue that shouldn’t be happening and is causing my game to crash at intermittent times. It’s also causing the Plays.TV, Twitch, and YouTube programs to malfunction and cause the computer to crash and freeze.” He kept telling me that I was wrong; I was just imagining things, he knows it all and there’s nothing wrong at all. We took the computer back and said to give us a refund; he didn’t want to lose money, so finally decided that he had no choice but to at least look at it and see what the problem was. After a few months (October – December), he finally acknowledged that I was right; the hard drive had some issues that were causing problems with the motherboard and the GPU, and he located them and was going to fix them. By that point, I was pretty much done with his nonsense. See, when communication breaks down, it gets hard to get things back on track, if not downright impossible. At any rate, I said that I wasn’t interested in dealing with him any longer, since he refused to listen to my concerns and even acknowledge what I was saying. I suppose he doesn’t care that he lost a customer, especially since he supposedly has some huge new clients that require all of his time. A small-timer like myself, who just wanted a nice all-in-one rig for writing, gaming, and doing videos, isn’t important enough to keep. Corporate money’s where it’s at, bay-bah!

Digressing: he installed the components that I originally asked for (FINALLY!), and my hubby went and picked it up. Before bringing it home, he took it to a local computer tech that he’s been vetting since November, and had him run some performance tests to make sure that everything was installed and functioning properly. If anything had failed, he would have made suggestions on what to replace for a fix. The performance tests went better than expected, so I got my rig back this past Saturday.

Since I have some time to myself and some peace and quiet, I’m going to hook it up in a little bit and run it through some paces! I had the AMD Radeon™ GPU taken out, and have a better NVIDIA® GeForce® than the one that I originally asked for: I was going to settle for the GTX 950 GPU, but got the GTX 1050 instead. I’ll have to see with my own eyes how it compares to, or differs from, the AMD Radeon™ – it’s been awhile since I had an NVIDIA® GPU! The new motherboard is a Gigabyte™ Ultra Durable™, which supports 6th Gen Intel® Core™ processors. I’ll find out which Intel® processor is in it when I fire it up, since I don’t have the invoice handy at the moment.

Anyway, time to get busy! I always like working on little projects like this on my own. No distractions, so I can take my time and go over the steps in my mind. Also, I won’t have the handy little AMD®™ game-capture / record thingy any longer. Hopefully NVIDIA® / GeForce® has something similar; otherwise, I’ll just have to do my Twitch broadcasts and Plays.TV recording the regular way: through the control dashboards of those respective sites. Something new to learn, all over again! I shall return…

Random Friday Ramblings…23 December 2016!

It’s Friday…whoo-hoo!!! I always love Fridays, whether I’m working or not – go figure, eh? Anyway, I just put in my annual calendar order today, along with some necessary, much-needed workout gear. It’s been a while since I bought workout clothes, and what’s really funny is that my workout gear doubles as ideal gaming gear! So, to bore you all to tears, here is what I wear whilst working out or gaming…and hard-core gamers know that an intense PvP gaming session, or a mindless XP grind, is a workout in and of itself, LOL!

DISCLAIMER: I receive no compensation for the products that I use, so this is strictly my opinion only! Would I love to get some free gear and do a review? Sure! But, I’m not on Facebook – that’s why I don’t get free products. I pay real money for what I use, LOL

😎

First off, I prefer Tommie Copper clothing. Comfort, durability, fit, and it looks good on me – those are the reasons I like it. Other fitness brands just look ugly to me, and seem to be made for anorexics who do nothing but spinning classes. I do circuit training and yoga, mainly. My elliptical machine is for fall and winter, or rainy days in the spring and summer, but I enjoy getting out on my bicycle and riding on the beach. I’m still on the lookout for a decent rowing machine, too – almost got one at the same time I bought my weight machine, but it was already sold out…so, I’ll keep looking!

Anyway, the workout gear is this:
-Gloves
-Compression wrist supports
-Comfort / support top
-Back brace (upper-body workout days)
-Compression shorts
-Knee supports (or full-leg compression for lower-body / leg exercises)
-Compression ankle supports
-Vibram(R) Five-fingers(T) shoes

For gaming, I wear the gloves and the wrist supports, a t-shirt with a smart-ass saying on it (for proper gaming saltiness), and jeans or yoga pants. Others can schlub about in house-coats or sweats…not me! Comfortable doesn’t need to be slovenly, ROFL

XD

I planned on writing up a schedule for my live gaming broadcasts, but it’s impossible to do with such a temperamental computer. Actually, the computer isn’t temperamental – either the Twitch program decides that it doesn’t want to work some days, or the ESO game itself is! There are always random crashes that happen whilst gaming, especially during ‘special events’ such as the ongoing ‘New Life Festival,’ but they’re expected. When one has been gaming for as long as I have, bugs and crashes are a given – so, we just roll with it and wait out the inevitable patches! Speaking of special stuff…player housing is FINALLY coming to ESO, and I can’t wait – I’m ready to check it out on the Public Test Server (PTS) when it gets loaded there in January! It should be interesting, to say the least. Below is a short video showing some of the houses that will be available.

Well, that’s it from me for now – time for some gaming! If you want to watch, click on the ‘Multimedia Links’ at the top of my blog and find the Twitch channel…if it says ‘LIVE,’ that means I’m online and the programs are cooperating with me, LOL

Otherwise, enjoy these three selected songs…happy Friday, all! Oh, while I’m on the subject of music – please don’t go reading something into the songs that I play. People get all bent out of shape or butthurt over my music, when I’m simply playing what I want to hear, when I want to hear it, if I’ve been inspired by reading or writing! I don’t do hidden meanings – now, if I do a theme-related post, that’s another thing entirely! Talk at you all later…

😎

Music: Character Class Themes

I’ve met my NaNo word-count for the day, and I’m avoiding all things political on TV or the Interwebz today…that includes reading the blogs that I follow! I’ll catch up on reading everyone tomorrow. For now, it’s time for some hard-core gaming – I think that I’ll do some live-streaming off and on today, too…I have all day to noodle around!

Enjoy this reblog of mine about the character classes in my favourite game.
😎

YouTube Gaming Sessions

I’m done writing for the day, and Game Six of the MLB World Series is on, so it’s time for me to get some dinner made and relax for the rest of the evening. If anyone is interested, here are my top three favourite gaming sessions that I have uploaded on YouTube. I’ll get some more up at a later date, as well as some more recent screen-shots…but, not until December, most likely!

Oh, feel free to enjoy the meme at the end of this post. Tell me…which type of gamer do you think that I am? Those who have been paying attention will figure it out fairly quickly, ROFL!

XD

Thursday Thoughts…27 October 2016

I was doing a bit of reading today, and found out that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has a re-mastered version coming out tomorrow, being released on Steam for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. From The Telegraph:

In 2011 the Game Director of Bethesda Game Studios, Todd Howard, finished up work on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. This Norse fantasy, sandbox role-playing game was one of the most anticipated releases of the last console generation, and the hype was palpable. It shot to unprecedented success, earning countless Game of the Year awards, smashing sales targets and capturing the hearts and minds of millions. As we approach the game’s fifth anniversary, Bethesda is about to commemorate its original release with a remaster. It’s no surprise –– the game still has an enormous fan base, reams of cosplayers flock to dress up as its characters at every convention, and there’s even an upcoming concert to celebrate the game’s incredible orchestral score. Its five-year birthday is certainly a milestone to be celebrated, but the game’s remarkable success –– how the melting pot of chance, luck and sheer artistic achievement brought us here –– remains a bit of a mystery.”

Will I buy it? Most likely. Will I have much time to play it? Not immediately, LOL! Stay tuned and I’ll let you know…I still have to get my main rig back in my hot little hands!

The second story that caught my eye has to do with the dress that First Lady Michelle Obama wore at her final state dinner as first lady. She wore an absolutely breath-taking gown designed by Donatella Versace, but the story behind it is awesome! From the New York Times:

On Tuesday night, at her final state dinner as first lady, Michelle Obama solidified her legacy as perhaps the most adept and successful practitioner of the art of political dressing that any administration has seen.

Her choice of an Atelier Versace gown for the Italy state dinner was not only a nice bit of sartorial diplomacy — Versace being an Italian success story, a company often touted as a candidate for a public offering — but, coming less than a week after her magnetic speech in New Hampshire on women and respect, it went far beyond being simply an ambassadorial nod to a guest country’s talent and made a powerful subliminal statement.

The dress, after all, was made of rose gold … chain mail. As much as it was gracefully cut and draped, it also spoke of armor and female strength, of the need to gird yourself to fight for what you believe in. And it was designed by Donatella Versace, a woman who was famously thrust into one of the most difficult situations of all: having to take over and preserve the company founded by her brother after his murder in Miami. And who, despite a fair number of doubts, has ultimately triumphed — in part by transforming the aesthetic of her company from one built on the power of sex to one built on the power of self.

After all, Ms. Versace did describe her most recent women’s wear collection, shown in Milan last month, as, “all about a woman’s freedom: freedom of movement, freedom of activity, freedom to fight for their ideas, freedom to be whomever you want to be.” And she set it to a soundtrack by the trance duo Violet + Photonz that featured the statement that it was time for women to “take the leap.”

I love that dress. May I say it again? I absolutely LOVE THAT DRESS! I love the craftsmanship that was involved, because making a dress out of chain mail, especially of that fine of a gauge, takes much time and skill…this, I know! I have some jewelry and clothing made out of chain mail, including a dress – but my dress is nowhere near as fine as the one worn by the First Lady. It is well-made, but extremely heavy; definitely more utilitarian than fashionable, and the links are much larger. I’d love to see how it was made, from start to finish…truly a masterpiece! Warrior women certainly need our armour – wherever we go!

Finally, the most recent take on the election from John Oliver – his perspective, along with those of Trevor Noah, Conan O’Brien, and Stephen Colbert, make these last two weeks far more palatable. I cast my vote already, and my conscience is clear. My duty is done…there’s nothing left to do but wait until the final vote is counted and the official decision is handed down.

Thundery Thursday!

Ah, what an awesome, excellent day! Any day that I wake up to a thunderstorm – yes, we had yet another one – is an excellent day, in my opinion. Fitting that it would happen on Thursday, which is also Thor’s Day to many, and Donnerstag in parts of Europe. No, I don’t need correction with geography; I know which countries are ‘Germanic’ or ‘Teutonic,’ and don’t feel like listing them all! ‘Donner’ means ‘thunder’ in those countries, so…there you have it, LOL

I’m glad that the final debate is over – I want the election to be, as well. So tired of going anywhere online, even in gaming-world, and seeing the same tired, trite, boring, racist, conspiracy-theory-filled nonsense over and over again. So done with it all. Even relevant news gets shoved to the side for the 24 / 7 political sideshow…I’m just done, and have been done since before this month started, LOL! I’m very glad that I get to vote via mail; my ballot should be arriving any day, now. No later than the 25th, according to the Voter’s Pamphlet received two weeks ago!

I’m going to do some recording tests throughout the day and the weekend, both with gaming and with YouTube, so I’ll be a bit busy and somewhat lax with posting…but, I’ll still be around, so don’t expect that I’ll be silent…

With that, I think that a bit of music is in order…so, enjoy these selections! Talk with you all later.

😎

Magickal, Musical Monday!!!

I’m in too good a mood to be snarky today…so SypherPK and TheHumanFloyd get a brief pass from me, for now! I’m sure that I’ll work up some gamer-hate later on in the week, especially with only 5 days left in the latest PvP campaign…speaking of which, I’ll be broadcasting some live gaming sessions, both PvP and (relatively boring) PvE stuff. Big changes coming to TESO on 31st May, so I have to grind some toons to veteran rank – before the ranks get removed! Long story that only other gamers might understand, LOL…suffice it to say, there are methods to my gaming madness!

Enjoy some music in the meantime, and be sure to check out my Twitch / Plays.TV channel throughout the week – and definitely over the upcoming, holiday weekend!

New Year’s Eve…2015!

Here it is…New Year’s Eve! Well, it still is in my neck of the woods – I know that it’s already New Year’s Day in Australia, Japan, India, Tibet, the Philippines, Europe, every country in Africa, and Iceland!

My other, in-depth posts about awards and other things will have to wait, as my computer will be crashing often until I’m able to upgrade the other components. In the meantime, editing blog-posts will take much patience – at least my game runs properly, so I’m still able to get my frustrations out through much virtual slaughter! Hopefully, I’ll get to engage in quite a bit more role-playing in 2016 than I did in 2015…the good kind, of course.
😉

I’ll keep this post short and sweet…Happy New Year, everyone!

Slade: “Here’s to the New Year”

Hey lads and lasses, come raise up your glasses
Make sure they’re filled up to the hilt
Goin’ on the brink again, buy me a drink
And I’ll show you what’s under my kilt – whoo!

Chorus:
So here’s to the New Year
Here’s to yourself
Cheers to you far and near
Here’s to your health!

Hey lads and lasses, come raise up your glasses
The party’s been rockin’ all day
Goin’ on the midnight and all of us getting tight
Big Ben is bangin’ away!
(Chorus)

One more wee toddy in our lily bodies, I’m hope (s)he’s the same over there
We’re gonna let the new year in – what noise, what a din
All put your hands in the air…come on!
(Chorus x2)
La, La-La, La La, La-La-La La…(repeat and fade)

Some Midweek Madness!!!

LOL – well, sort of…I’m learning the limitations of my game recording! Here is another video of my gaming action; 13 minutes of PvP death and destruction! The final 2 minutes are nothing but load-screen limbo…we gamers are all too familiar with this, and / or the dreaded “Lag Monster!” I’ve also discovered that my clips can only be around 13 – 15 minutes long, which is fine with me…sometimes, I only get about 15 minutes worth of decent gaming footage after 5 hours of play, LOL!
Enjoy this clip…I call it, “Save the Sanctuary!”
😀
