Saturday Scenery: Woodland Friends

Here are a few pictures of the local wildlife paying a visit. They do so on a regular basis and I enjoy watching their activities and antics.

This is the final weekend of Midyear Mayhem, so today’s live-streamed gaming session begins at 1500 PDT. I hope that you tune in for the AvA action!

Foraging at the fence-line

Striking a pose…

…but she noticed the blinds moving, even though I was being cautious!

“Bob” the squirrel, raiding one of the feeders…

…a chickadee flew in to wait her turn…

…she jumped on the side opposite “Bob” to grab a seed.

“Easy there, greedy-guts! Save some for the rest of us!”

This feeder is just outside of my front door.

“Bob” kept a watchful eye as I got a bit closer…

Ready for your close-up, little buddy?

He finally had enough of me standing there, and gave me the stink-eye before hopping down and scampering away!

Random Pictures…13 September 2016!

Fishing on the Columbia River near Astoria, Oregon. The Astoria-Megler Bridge is in the distance.

I’m currently attempting to get my webcam to work…Windows 10 interferes with things that used to be simple plug-and-play, it seems! I could at least get some of the programs to (barely) function on my old computer, once I cranked it up and made it cooperate; this new rig has its own mysteries for me to solve, with or without the computer tech guy! I will figure this shit out…trust me on that!

In the meantime, enjoy these random pictures I took over the past few months, while I maintain an even temperament whilst dealing with frustrating technology. Mercury retrograde isn’t going to thwart me, LOL!

We saved this little frog! He was hiding in the “sun-room” area of the shop, which should be the workout room since it has most of the gym equipment in it. Notice the colouring? All speckled like the concrete that lines the floor – just a tiny strip of green on its back:

The day after rescuing the frog, this interesting-looking beetle decided to say “hello.” I’m not sure if it’s a ground-dweller, a tree-dweller, or a swimmer!

There is a small “water feature” in a corner of the property. Two years ago, we went out and dug up a big hunk of water-lily root that had three leaves on it and put it in the feature for a bit of greenery. In June of this year, right around the Summer Solstice, it looked like this:

During the small heat wave we had at the end of August, it looked like this:

Did you count the leaves?
😉

Speaking of plants, check out this cool little cluster of flowers! One of my happy indoor plants, that I never knew bloomed, has been sprouting these like crazy – I have no idea what the plant is called, but I like these little stars:

Finally, some shots of food…just because!

Now I’m craving sushi…but it’s a two-hour drive away!

Musical Monday…18 July 2016!

I’m relaxing after a nice, busy weekend of gardening, house-cleaning, cooking, and beach-combing, and I’m catching up on reading some of my favourite blogs. It looks as if I have another award to address; in the meantime, enjoy these three songs for my musical Monday! Bonus points to those of you who REALLY know what the first song is about, ROFL

Songs on a Saturday…

I’m out running errands, in doing some housework, then back outside to do some gardening and planting! I’ll get around to reading and catching up with the blogs I follow tomorrow, when I allow myself a day of laziness on Sunday. In the meantime, enjoy these five, soothing, Saturday songs!

Friday Fun…Random Screen-shots

Final Friday…29 April 2016!!!

I hope that I can finally relax, today! This week has turned out busier than I expected – but, that always seems to happen when I have good posts planned out, LOL!

I had to attend a funeral on Wednesday; that of a friend of a friend of a friend, an old biker dude who had cancer, cirrhosis of the liver, and various other health issues related to hard drugging in his younger years. He had heart issues, too – had some major infection that required open-heart surgery about five years ago, so he lived a bit longer than he expected to. The last surgery he had, last week, was all his body could take. Life is indeed too short…

My phone is giving me hassles and won’t allow me to upload my latest pictures! I had some lovely shots of sushi and oysters on the half-shell, and a couple of pictures of my favourite bridge in Portland, Oregon: the majestic St. John’s Bridge. It is Gothic in design, to my eyes!

My verbal thrashings will have to wait until tomorrow…I haven’t had time to get them crafted, yet! This is why I rarely schedule things; an unscheduled day always goes much smoother for me than a scheduled one, and that includes blog-posts! Speaking of which, I have allowed “SypherPK’s” comment through for everyone’s viewing pleasure – also, so that you can see what “he” said in the original comment, and so that my dear readers will know that I didn’t edit any of “his” words!
XD

Enjoy these three songs – two played at the funeral, and the last is one that I would want played when my ashes are finally scattered to the four winds…time for me to catch up on a bit of reading of the many blogs that I follow!

Leap Year Day!

29th February…like an election in the U.S., it only comes around every four years – but it is far more welcomed, I think! The Google doodle in honour of it is cute…I like bunnies!
😀

I even know someone born on ‘Leap Day’ – a guy named Dean in Alaska, originally from Seattle. When he first introduced himself, he said that he was only 4 – 1/2 years old, which made me laugh! You do the math and figure it out, LOL

I’m sitting here with my first cup of coffee, looking out of the window. It’s mild and pleasant out there this morning; a little cloudy, but no rain. It’s been so warm here the past two weeks, that it feels like springtime already! The flowers are blooming on the rhodie bushes; buds are exploding on every tree, and we finally identified a funny-looking bush that was growing near the porch. It hadn’t shown any leaves or flowers for over a year, but now it’s revealed itself to be a pussy-willow! It has little fuzzies all over it, LOL – I’ll take some pics of it and post them later on in the week.

Since it’s a rare day, I’ll do something rare and tell one personal thing about myself. Five surnames in my family tree are: Braithewaite, Dunn, Harris, Murray, and Pinckney. Interesting, no? I’m looking up the origins of those names – familial histories are fascinating!

Finally, here are a few pictures of a project that has been progressing in fits and starts since 2010. We acquired a 1937 Plymouth pickup truck (PT50) on 25 January of that year, and took possession of it in March. The restoration process has been an amazing thing to witness, and the finished project is beautiful. Yes, it runs! I’m working on uploading the videos from my phone, so they will be posted as soon as I get it figured out!

Thursday Thoughts; Small Update

Hello, all – just a tiny update of what I plan on doing through the year’s end and well into next year: writing, blogging, vlogging, and getting myself and my little face out there more! Peeking out from behind my walls and seeing the world…and letting the world see me. So terrifying, but I have to do it…I must! So, I’ll be getting my new cell phone next week and checking on getting my computer upgraded. I need a better video card, and I’m pretty sure I can expand the memory considerably, so I just have to look at what awesome, LED-riddled gamer case I want!

My ‘locs need some professional tending, so I will be getting my hair done next week as well…it’s been a while since I splurged on any beauty-salon visits – definitely past due! I need to make sure I can put my best face forward, LOL – here comes my vain streak. I don’t like being vain, but sometimes I am…sad but true. This means that I’ll be taking *GASP* selfies! Ermehgerd…stop the presses! I like clothes, and I love steampunk fashions – I think the only reason I wanted to model was for the clothes, but that was before I learned that you don’t always get to model the clothes that you like!

I’m going to be playing around a bit more with the settings and features of my blog…there are quite a few that I haven’t explored yet, and seeing what others do with their blogs has inspired me a bit. I won’t make any drastic changes because I like the layout and appearance of my blog, but there are things that I’ve wanted to add for some time – so I’ll experiment here and there, as necessary.

Tomorrow is the last 13th Friday of this year, so I am working on a post to publish first thing in the morning…local time, that is! For now, enjoy this song and a pretty picture of a tired little lady. Running, prancing and dancing with rampant stags wears a gal out! Shhhhh…nighty-night.
