Sepultura’s Sunday Screen-Shots: 1 October 2017!

October, already? This year is flying by…but, we all know that time flies when you’re having fun! Kermit the Frog says that time’s fun when you’re having flies – it’s all about perspective, isn’t it?

I’ve been catching up on some gaming this weekend and wanted to share some screen-shots of my in-game action. The Elder Scrolls Online is the best game to come along in years, and I’ve been enjoying it since it launched in April of 2014. I love the way it is evolving and expanding, always adding new things to keep it fresh and entertaining. I definitely plan on playing it for some time!

Siege engines up – retake the crucial home keep!

The Doctor has taken the crown – an excellent display of teamwork!

Time away from the battlefield; visiting a lonely grave.

A feathered friend squawks approval.

Standing on the balcony of her grand, new manor…

Sitting upon the hard-won throne. It is surprisingly comfortable!

Flanked by loyal, faithful, and trustworthy companions.

Time for an intimate meal…dessert to follow.

Black women victims of violence bring their cases to the OAS; in a decade, murder of white women decreased 9% but increased 54% among black women

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, too…just in case you didn’t know.

Black Women of Brazil

Note from BW of Brazil: Here at BW of Brazil we try to present a balanced portrayal of what it is to be black in Brazil, specifically a black woman. And in attempting to provide this balance presentation, the material posted here should present triumphs and victories, as well as disappointments, disturbing realities and just day to day news that, on the surface, may not appear to be directly connected to race, but once it’s realized how events, occurrences and statistics affect different groups in different ways, ultimately, the race factor still comes in. Violence against women is clearly one of those occurrences. Of course someone who prefers to negate the reality of the influence of race in the lives of people of color will simply believe that we need not analyze violence against women under the lens of race; after all, ALL violence against women should…

It’s time

October is here…this year is flying by! It’s pouring rain today; it appears as if the “rainy season” has begun here in my neck of the woods. There will be fewer clear days now, which is fine with me – cloud-cover keeps it moderate during the fall and winter months, and who knows? We might get snow here this year…I love how the beach looks with a blanket of snow.

Today marks the beginning of Navratri, which lasts through Sunday, 9 October. I found a link of some beautiful photos of the celebration honoring Maa Durga, from the Indian Express website – they are wonderful! It looks like a fantastic festival to attend…so many colours and dancing!

I hate citing Wikipedia, but it is the only site that didn’t pop up a billion ads and videos. From Wikipedia:

Durga is the form of Mother goddess in Shaktism. There are many incarnations of Goddess Durga: Kali, Renu (or) Renuka, Bhagvati, Bhavani, Ambika, Lalita, Gauri, Kandalini, Jaya, Rajeswari and has nine appellations: Skandamata, Kushmanda, Shailaputri, Kaalratri, Brahmacharini, Maha Gauri, Katyayani, Chandraghanta and Siddhidatri.[1] A list of 108 names that is used to describe her is very popularly in use by eastern Hindus and is called Ashtottara Shatanamavali of Goddess Durga.[2]”

I was catching up on blog-reading yesterday, and found out that Stanley Dural Jr., best known as “Buckwheat Zydeco,” passed away on 24 September. From Rolling Stone:

Stanley “Buckwheat” Dural Jr., the accordionist and ambassador of zydeco music who performed under the stage name Buckwheat Zydeco, died Saturday following a battle with lung cancer. He was 68.

“It is with deep sadness that I have to announce that our great, beloved leader Stanley ‘Buckwheat’ Dural, Jr. has passed away. He died at 1:32 AM Louisiana time, keeping musician’s hours right to the bitter end,” Dural’s manager Ted Fox wrote on Facebook.

“I am grieving for my best friend and colleague of more than 30 years. But, as this great road warrior once said: ‘Life is a tour, and it’s all about how you decide to get where you’re going…I don’t want to ignore the bad things in life, but I want to emphasize the good things.’ Buck made everything and everyone he touched better and happier. RIP my dear friend, my brother.”

Family friend Dustin Cravins added to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, “It’s a tough one for us and the entire Zydeco community and the greater music community. Words like legend and icon are tossed around so much these days that it almost sounds watered down, but he was the true definition of it.

Stanley “Buckwheat Zydeco” Dural, Jr.: 14 November 1947 – 24 September 2016

Yes, I love zydeco! That might surprise some…but, those who REALLY look at and REALLY listen to the music that I post won’t be surprised at all. So, I’ll close this post with my three favourite Buckwheat Zydeco songs. He’s jamming with Jimi, David, Prince, and so many others…make that accordion sing!

I’m glad there’s October in our calendar…:-)

October has ended, but these scenes from Melanie’s Playground are worth looking at and admiring!

Fall must exist in our hemisphere just to display the most beautiful colors that seem to head for a wider horizon, beyond infinity… I’m glad there’s October in our calendar, a sunny month when Nature’s beauty smiles at us before the end of another year… if I only could, I would fly around the Earth to enjoy it all over, thinking about Van Gogh’s words:”A sun, a light for lack of better I can’t call yellow, pale sulfur yellow, pale golden lemon. How beautiful yellow is!” – meanwhile, I watch the red stems with bird’s wings getting ready to take off to the following season… 🙂

Friday Milestone…100 Followers!!!

I am ecstatic, elated, humbled and honoured! After grinding in my MMORPG from 2:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. PDT (-8 GMT) and taking a much-needed nap after completing an in-game campaign, I woke up to this wonderful notification: 100 WordPress followers…wow!

I’m speechless, LOL – I didn’t think I would reach 100 followers before the end of the year, especially since I sometimes seem to lose as many followers as I gain! There is at least one person who has been here from day one…I STILL SEE YOU, HERNIE!!! For now, I’ll simply post five in-game screenshots from the past 24 hours:

…also, here are five great songs to start the weekend off right – enjoy!

Meandering Musings…20 October 2015

Doing a bit of thinking as I do some housework…my mind wanders as I vacuum, do dishes, and dust the light fixtures and the fans – making the spiders move their homes to different corners for awhile, LOL

I have lost some guild-mates and friends in-game, and lost some blog-followers…but, I gained more than I lost. Glacial progress seems to be the story of my life! Five steps forward, three steps back – it’s been that way for as long as I can remember.

I have barely paid much attention to the news lately – hatred, violence, and death abound. I’m sick of politics and could care less about which celebrity has done what to whom. Major ennui and apathy…only the animals in the yard and the other blogs I follow are bringing a smile to my face these past five days. I had a bit of hope when I saw a report last week, of a possible deal being made to return the young women kidnapped from Chibok, but nothing recently…they’ve now been away from their families and loved ones for 554 days.

Ah, well…enough of that for now. I suppose I feel like there’s some odd change brewing, and I can’t put my finger on it. I feel like I’m preparing for something, but I don’t know what I’m supposed to be preparing for…if that makes any sense, then I won’t worry too much.

5 Friday Songs…16 October 2015

Happy Friday – enjoy.

Thursday Thoughts…1 October 2015

Well – ’tis a new month! October is here…the year is nearing its end. It sure has flown by; thankfully, I am taking it easy on myself and not putting too much pressure on not meeting some deadlines that I’d hoped to. Part of the reason is that I am facing more disruptions than usual lately…and no, they aren’t game-related! If only they were, LOL – then I’d just shrug and say, “Yep – I’ve been busy gaming and procrastinating!” But, that isn’t the case. More on that later…

I’m pleased to note that I have a total of 82 followers so far! I’d like to say “welcome” to all – as always, I encourage new readers (and old) to check out my ‘About’ page…that will give you a gist of what to expect from my little corner of the interwebs! I have an odd sense of humour and sometimes swear like a sailor, but I’m not a bad person just for having a bit of a foul mouth. I try to keep it in line, but I’m not going to mince words if I feel strongly about something. Anyway, nice to make your acquaintances; if I haven’t followed your respective blogs yet (those of you who have them), please have patience – sometimes I have a hard time finding them! Apologies, too, if it seems that I re-post more than I write, of late – I’ve been reading many more blogs, and many times have found some gems that I think are worth sharing. I also have another installment of my gaming fan fiction coming up…I will do my best to publish it tomorrow morning.

Since it is a new month, I figured I’d check out the news and see what’s been happening in the world lately – seems to be the usual. Politics and the Trump sideshow. Pope Francis visiting the United States, and having some sort of meeting with that hateful wretch down in Tennessee. The head of Planned Parenthood being raked over the coals and verbally slammed into silence at some hearing. More shootings – another seemingly in progress as I type this. An “active shooter” has been reported at Umpqua College in Roseburg, Oregon.

The girls abducted from the school in Chibok, Nigeria, have been away from their families and loved ones for 535 days, now…the days keep adding up. It’s a sad tally, no? That’s one thing I am hopeful for, every day: that they are returned safely and supported in their healing process…their ordeal is surely an unimaginable horror that only other victims could possibly understand.

I’m thoroughly enjoying Trevor Noah as host of the Daily Show – the writing is still great, and he’ll relax into his role as lead anchor as he takes a firmer hold on the reigns of the show. Larry Wilmore continues to entertain as he informs; I absolutely loved it when he had Ahmed Mohammed on his show! Stephen Colbert has been awesome, of course – his notable guests have included First Lady Michelle Obama, actress Lupita Nyong’o, author Stephen King, Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, and presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. The interviews have been excellent!

Well, that’s it for now from me. On a final note, I finally got a webcam…apparently, those little contraptions are necessary for promoting things like books!
