A Young Man Is Dead.

Trayvon Martin: 5 February 1995 –  26 February 2012

Rekia Boyd: (can’t find month/day) 1989 – 21 March 2012

I’m speechless and nauseated right now.  A young man is dead.  This was going to be a long post, but there is so much to say…I try to write and just get overwhelmed with pain.  I’m really sickened over this issue, and am so tired of hearing people justify the cold-blooded, semi-premeditated murder of an unarmed, 17-year old young man.  A modern-day lynching, carried out by a paranoid, racist, wanna-be cop who designated himself judge, jury, end executioner.  A ‘vigilante-type’ who took the law into his own hands.  What’s even sadder is that, as I write this, there have been at least three other, similar murders carried out across the country.  There’s a pathological infection going around, and it seems to getting worse by the day.  People are getting murdered; the main thing that connects them is the color of their skin – and in this country, that can’t be written off as some odd coincidence.  Worse are the race-baiting comments that are landing on news sites and blog pages – pathetic attempts by psychopathic individuals to justify the unjustifiable.  Painting murder victims as criminals: Trayvon Martin.  Rekia Boyd.  Kenneth Chamberlain.  Aaron Campbell.  The list goes on.

From CNN:
Editor’s note: Pulitzer Prize winner Isabel Wilkerson is the author of “The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America’s Great Migration.” One of the migrants documented in the book, George Swanson Starling, fled Florida for New York in 1945 after a standoff in the citrus groves, where he sought fairer wages for black pickers from the grove owners for whom they worked. The standoff — in Sanford, Florida — set in motion a plan to lynch him.

(CNN) — Isolated in the moment, the shooting death of Trayvon Martin may seem a singular tragedy: a teenager mistaken for a criminal by an overzealous neighborhood watchman armed with a gun and backed by a state law that gives greater latitude to people to defend themselves when they feel threatened.

But that moment in February in the central Florida town of Sanford was steeped in a history that has haunted the state, the South and the country for generations.”

The race-baiters, who are fond of believing in skewed, biased, little-researched, ‘race-based’ statistics, are also using this following incident as some sort of ‘proof’ that Trayvon Martin deserved to be gunned down like a rabid animal:  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-17540508

Here’s a recently updated local news story, which began last year:

Here’s an excellent song that sums it all up: “Killing In the Name” by Rage Against the Machine.  Here’s a little info about the band and the song; the lyrics will be posted after the link to the song.

Red Rider: “Lunatic Fringe

Lunatic fringe
I know you’re out there
You’re in hiding
And you hold your meetings
We can hear you coming
We know what you’re after
We’re wise to you this time
We won’t let you kill the laughter.

Lunatic fringe
In the twilight’s last gleaming
This is open season
But you won’t get too far
‘coz you’ve got to blame someone
For your own confusion
But we’re on guard this time
Against your FINAL SOLUTION

We can hear you coming
(We can hear you coming)
No you’re not going to win this time
We can hear the footsteps
(We can hear the footsteps)
Hey, out along the walkway
(Out along the walkway)
Lunatic fringe
We know you’re out there
Can you feel the resistance?
Can you feel the thunder?

Updated Saturday, 2012/4/7:

Chaka Khan has always been a singer and entertainer that I admire.  She just released a tribute song to Trayvon Martin…what a class act.

Now, if someone can only catch the person or persons who are murdering innocent people in the streets of Tulsa, Oklahoma, solely for the color of their skin.  The madness is escalating…it’s sickening.
