Last Week Tonight: Saudi Arabia

In today’s installment of “Last Week Tonight,” John puts the focus on Saudi Arabia and the uncomfortably close relationship between that country and the USA.

For decades, administrations have been turning a blind eye to the human rights violations that Saudi Arabia blatantly perpetrates. It all comes down to money, proving that a good number of people will do the most horrific things to others for a little bit of cabbage.

Last Week Tonight: Brazilian Elections

In today’s installment of “Last Week Tonight,” John talks about the presidential election in Brazil. Looks like that country is ready to have its own version of the Drumpf steering them off of the nearest cliff.

Full Frontal Thursday: Singapore Summit, “Crisis Actors,” & Irish Abortion Referendum

In today’s installment of “Full Frontal Thursday,” Sam talks about the meeting between Baby-Hands McDrumpf and Kim Jong Un. Drumpf embraces yet another dictator while insulting and turning his back on America’s allies and further alienating this country from the rest of the world. Reminds me of the way abusive partners alienate their victims from family and friends in order to continue and escalate their abuse.

Next, she points out how the victims of the school shooting in Parkland are being targeted, harassed, and bullied by the usual cadre of trolls infesting the internet. This conclave of trolls, led by Alex Jones and his ilk, love to discredit people by mockingly deriding them as “crisis actors” or “social justice warriors” and gaslight with propaganda, conspiracy theories and lies.

Finally, it appears that Ireland joined the 21st century by bringing women’s birth control rights out of the 18th century to the present. Since this country is going backwards by leaps and bounds, it is refreshing to see another take a teeny-tiny step forward.

Last Week Tonight: North Korea

In today’s installment of “Last Week Tonight,” John Oliver breaks down the relationship between the United States and North Korea. It isn’t so much Kim Jong-Un’s rhetoric that is frightening, but the fact that the current administration is woefully ill-equipped to do anything constructive or reassuring.

Bonus clip: John addresses the horrific events which happened at the racist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. He’s one of the few talk-show hosts who have done so, and he has my respect for it.
