Five On Friday: Television Shows

Happy Friday, everyone! In this installment of my “5 Friday Favourites,” I figured that I’d give a mention to the few television shows which I watch regularly.

On the whole, I watch very little television and even fewer movies or films. I prefer reading and listening to music over watching TV, but there are a few shows which piqued my interest and have proven to be quite a delight!

Black-ish (ABC): This show was great when it began, and just keeps getting better every season. Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross are excellent in their roles: a married African-American couple raising their children in white suburbia. The show provides a well-written, comedic take about the trials and tribulations which invariably arise in that specific situation, and the observations are spot on!

Drunk History (Comedy Central): After a brief hiatus, Drunk History will begin airing new episodes in January 2018. The show’s title speaks for itself but to truly appreciate it, you must watch it! Historical re-enactments starring various actors, narrated by drunken comedians: what more could you ask for?

Hell’s Kitchen (Fox): The only ‘reality’ show which I watch, Hell’s Kitchen uses the elimination method of competition made popular by other shows in the same genre. Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay shouts and screams at the contestants who are competing to become the top chef in any one of his various restaurants in the USA; those restaurants seem to be exclusively located in Las Vegas, Nevada. I enjoy watching the food preparation and the various uses of the lovely, fresh ingredients featured in each episode.

The Orville (Fox): I did a brief post about this show in November of this year after watching five episodes. Created and produced by Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy, American Dad) this series pays homage to the Star Trek multiverse without being a shameless, unoriginal copy of same. I continue to be impressed with how well-written it is, and the acting involved is a delight!

Wrecked (TBS): I have mentioned this relatively new series a couple of times in past posts. It is one of the funniest shows I’ve had the pleasure of watching, and look forward to the new season!
