5 Songs for Full Moon Monday…7 August 2017!

The full moon would be a lovely sight to see tonight, if the weather would only cooperate. Still, I can only hope that the clouds and haze today will be gone a fortnight from now, in order for us to get a perfect, crystal-clear viewing of the upcoming Solar Eclipse! An astronomical event such as this is a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence which simply must be seen, if you’re fortunate enough to live in, or near, the path of totality. We’re picking up our eclipse-viewers from our optometrist later on today, as getting those from a reputable source is vital.

Creativity burgeons under the full moon and I enjoy listening to music when writing, so please enjoy these five songs…which have nothing to do with the moon!

😀

Slightly Overdue Full Moon Music!

The full moon was bright and beautiful last night, for the half-hour that I was able to see it! To celebrate, I offer three moon-related songs for this Monday in July to ease you all into a new week.

Full Moon Midweek Musings…10 May 2017

The weather has been pretty nice for almost a week now! It’s a refreshing change from all of the rain we’d been having. The rain has been about average for this time of year, but the temperatures aren’t!

At this time last year, temperatures here on the Washington coast were in the mid-70s, with the lows hovering around the mid- to low 50s. This year, the highs are in the mid-50s, and the lows still drop to the low 40s! This morning is the third straight one where I could stand outside on the deck in my robe and not feel as if my legs would freeze off. It will be nice when it gets warmer, but it seems as if that won’t happen until the end of this month at the earliest.

Still working on clearing away shrubbery from around the house and the garage, and getting ready to move and transplant the bamboo jungle which we let go wild for a bit. It’s amazing how quickly it grows in ideal conditions; the last two years have seen it explode, and even this year there is still noticeable “creepage,” for lack of a better term! The bamboo that we have is the type that expands outward, so we can see where it is heading from the way the new shoots are erupting. Definitely fascinating to watch!

The roof on the house is scheduled to be re-shingled in August. A leak developed due to some of the shingles being slightly lifted when the winds from storms loosened some of the staples holding them down. It’s time to replace all with some better ones which have a longer warranty and are installed properly and securely! The winds blow strong here when the storms come through, so coastal houses tend to get battered a bit more than those on the lee side of even small mountain ranges.

There’s a full moon in Scorpio today, and I have a nice, lazy, relaxing day on tap. The Seattle Mariners will be facing the Philadelphia Phillies in a bit, so it’s time for me to get some game-time of my own in. Feel free to click on the link here and watch the action! Broadcasting will begin at 1100 PDT. Later, ‘gators!

Full Moon Friday: 5 Fun Facts!

It’s a Full Moon Friday, and I figured I’d do something fun: list five facts about myself, which some of you may or may not know about me. I’ve seen other bloggers do this as a regular feature; me, I’m a bit more private than most, so don’t feel the need to gush copiously like a New York City fire hydrant in July. Still, the ‘personal’ touch is a good thing – gives me something to write about while I research some topics for future posts. So, here we go!

1. I learned how to read at the age of two. By the time I was eight, I was reading – and comprehending – college-level literature, and my IQ tested at 126. It’s a bit higher, these days!
😉

2. I have a nice variety of house-plants and they are very happy, I must say! I like plants that aren’t high-maintenance…in other words, ones that are like me!
XD

3. I’m 5’11”.

4. I weigh 150#.

5. Five jobs that I’ve held in the past: Radio DJ, cocktail waitress, model, office administrative assistant…and dominatrix.
👿

Now that you’re thoroughly bored to tears, here are five songs by Faith No More…have an awesome Friday and weekend, all!

Tuesday Tidbits…13 December 2016

It’s a particularly awesome day, today! It’s a special one – why, you may ask? Because it is, that’s why! That should be good enough, I’d wager. I’ll give a little hint, though: it’s a day celebrated annually by some, and involves the giving of gifts and toasting good fortune, and the gift that I have is one that I’ve needed and wanted for some time! Anything that keeps me in fighting trim is necessary, and the garbage advertised on television leaves much to be desired – I’ve yet to see my machine advertised anywhere, personally; and it is a brand that has been around for 20 years or more. Yes, I’m now the proud owner of a circuit-training home gym and couldn’t be happier! Free-weights, kettle-bells, and ellipticals are fine and dandy, but my ideal workout has always included a “universal” machine – and, best of all, I don’t have to go to a stinky, sweaty, germ-filled “fitness center!” How anyone can stand those places is beyond me…seriously, every single time I tried to have a membership in any sort of health club, I would get sick within a week no matter how much I cleaned the machines before and after I used them. I didn’t pay to get sick, I paid to work-out, but muscle-heads and cheese-cakes were too busy primping and posing on the machines instead of using them, so they were a waste of my time and money, LOL! Exercising in the peace, quiet, and comfort of my own home is best for me.

It’s cold out there, but I don’t mind because I was able to see the beautiful moon last night, and should be able to see it again tonight when it reaches complete fullness. Clear skies means colder weather, but the sunshine is very refreshing after what seems like a straight month and a half of clouds, rain, hail, snow, and nearly every other type of precipitation you can imagine, except for sleet! Gotta bundle up before walking on the beach…

Time for some music, and I have to do some cooking! Beef stew for lunch, game hens for dinner…the only thing that sucks about cooking is the cleaning and prepping, but it’s still worth it. Talk to ya later, gators!

SUPER MOON

I’m hoping that the weather cooperates…this will be a sight to see!

A “Super Moon” will occur this Monday (Nov 14th/16).It will be about 30,000 miles closer. To give some perspective,It’s about 25,000  miles around our equator.

Lets hope our weather will be clear enough to view this cosmic wonder? It won’t occur again till 2034.

Full Moon Friday Funtime!

It’s Friday…and the Harvest Full Moon is visible for those with clear night skies! Today also marks the Penumbral Lunar Eclipse, which will make the moon look a little bit darker to those living in Europe, parts of Asia, the countries in East Africa, and most of Australia. I’d love to see some photos, if any intrepid photographers are able to capture the event!

Today would have been B. B. King’s 91st birthday…sadly, he passed away on 14 May of last year. Fortunately, his songs are still played regularly on Sirius satellite radio, on the “Bluesville” channel – it’s still referred to as “B. B. King’s Bluesville” by many of us who listen. True blues…not the watered-down, washed-out crap that Clapton or other Brits play. They play sorry emulations of a grand music that is truly American – raw, gritty, and full of heart and soul. If you haven’t lived it, you can’t play it…it’s as simple as that!

Yesterday marked the beginning of the Chinese Moon Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival. From the China Highlights website:

Traditional Calendar Seasons

According to the Chinese lunar calendar (and traditional solar calendar), the 8th month is the second month of autumn. As the four seasons each have three (about-30-day) months on the traditional calendars, day 15 of month 8 is “the middle of autumn”.

For the Full Moon

On the 15th of the lunar calendar, each month, the moon is at its roundest and brightest, symbolizing togetherness and reunion in Chinese culture. Families get together to express their familial love by eating dinner together, appreciating the moon, eating mooncakes, etc. The harvest moon is traditionally believed to be the brightest of the year.

For Harvest Celebration

Month 8 day 15, is traditionally the time rice is supposed to mature and be harvested. So people celebrate the harvest and worship their gods to show their gratitude.

I’ll close this post with three excellent songs by the “King of the Blues,” B. B. King…and, guess what? This is my 2,000th post – pretty awesome, I think!
