Saturday Silliness: Doctor Who

Time for some Saturday fun with the ultimate Time Lord, Doctor Who. Allons-y, Geronimo, and…RUN, YOU CLEVER BOY!!!

Saturday Silliness: Whovian Edition! (Re-blogged)

I have to wait until December to see new episodes of Doctor Who. Here’s a repost of a few funny pics and memes, just because!

😎

Saturday Stuff!

It’s Saturday night and I’m in a saucy mood…so, enjoy these five random clips! The first two are dedicated to a fellow blogger and friend out there, as he enjoys Doctor Who and Ren & Stimpy like I do…and that’s a rare and wonderful thing! The other three clips are in honour of my long-standing Saturday night ritual: watching the block of anime on Cartoon Network’s [adult swim]. I’ve been doing so for a decade, now!

Friday Milestone…100 Followers!!!

I am ecstatic, elated, humbled and honoured! After grinding in my MMORPG from 2:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. PDT (-8 GMT) and taking a much-needed nap after completing an in-game campaign, I woke up to this wonderful notification: 100 WordPress followers…wow!

I’m speechless, LOL – I didn’t think I would reach 100 followers before the end of the year, especially since I sometimes seem to lose as many followers as I gain! There is at least one person who has been here from day one…I STILL SEE YOU, HERNIE!!! For now, I’ll simply post five in-game screenshots from the past 24 hours:

…also, here are five great songs to start the weekend off right – enjoy!

Sunday Serenity…and a Lunar Eclipse!

What a nice, relaxing Sunday it is! I decided to put my gaming project on hold for the weekend and pull my face off of the computer screen for a bit, and have been binge-watching some TV shows and movies. I’ve been enjoying watching some of the older Doctor Who episodes, with Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor; today, there is an Alfred Hitchcock double-feature airing, of a couple of movies I’d never seen yet: Psycho and The Birds. Sometimes it takes me a while to get around to watching so-called ‘classics’ – for instance, I didn’t get around to watching Soylent Green or The Andromeda Strain until the late 90s, LOL

The moon was beautiful last night, and there are clear skies forecast for tonight as well…I look forward to the lunar eclipse! It should be very nice. I’m going to see if I can capture some decent shots of it – if not, oh well! Seeing it will be a treasure.

That’s it for now…here are two songs about nightingales, just because! Enjoy…

Monday Musings…14 September 2015

My ISP has been having issues! Three unexplained outages in the past two weeks – both the internet and cable TV go out at the same time, and are off for five hours or more. It would be nice if the company would offer a discount, or at least one month of free cable, to make up for the service interruption and the inconvenience of missing shows that I was doing the DVR thing with. I completely missed Stephen Colbert’s first show, for example, and only caught the first half of the first inning of a Mariners game another time. Oh, well…it could be worse, I suppose.

So, what have I missed? I realized that I completely forgot to mention that Tuesday, 8 September, was International Literacy Day…shame on me for that! As a writer and an avid reader, that is an unforgivable omission – so I will give myself 50 lashes with a wet noodle as punishment.

😛

What else…oh, yeah – whatever happened with the three people who supposedly killed that cop in Fox Lake, Illinois a couple of weeks ago? That story went away so quickly; not at all like those two murderers who were set loose from the prison in New York by that stupid, “love-struck” wench. Wonder what the deal was.

The footage of those high-school football players blindsiding that referee was interesting, wasn’t it? Now everybody’s lawyered up and the finger-pointing has begun – nobody is saying how injured the ref is or was, so I’m guessing that the injuries must not be serious – if he has any. Perhaps the hit only looked more brutal than it actually was? Anyway, he’s not in hospital so I presume that his pride suffered the biggest hit.

Monday morning maintenance patch on my game is going on, so it’s off-line at the moment. I’ll take another stab at this video-game streaming thing – apparently, there are a lot of different options, Twitch being one and YouTube being another. I also use Steam for my games like Skyrim and Half-Life 2, so anyone with a Steam gaming account could watch me play. One game that I might get is called Surgeon Simulator…it’s hilarious! I watched one of my acquaintances play it for a half hour, and I was dying with laughter over it…it’s too funny.

Yesterday morning, I woke up very early – it was still dark out, but the skies were perfectly clear. I grabbed a cup of coffee and my peace-pipe, and stood out on the back deck to look at the stars. So nice to see them, with very little light-pollution to spoil the view. The moon was new on Saturday, so it wasn’t “out.” Venus was exceptionally bright, as well…just so beautiful. Made me think of the song “Starry Starry Night (Vincent)” by Don McLean; the Doctor Who episode in which The Doctor and his companion, Amy, meet Vincent van Gogh had been on earlier, and that was a fantastic episode – brings tears to your eyes. Well, it did mine, at least…so looking at a starry, starry morning was pleasant and relaxing.

I’ll close with the clip from the show, and that beautiful song…why not?

Jumping right on in: may I say that I’m tired of politics already? Ye gawds…2016 seems so far away, even though it’s already halfway through August, which is more than halfway through this year. The so-called presidential ‘campaign’ is already taking its toll. Yes, Jon Stewart is no longer at The Daily Show, but Trevor Noah will soon be taking the helm – that will be awesome. To my knowledge, he debuts on Monday, 28 September. Stephen Colbert will launch his show on Tuesday, 8 September, and the new Doctor Who series airs on BBC America on Saturday, 19 September – so I’m set. In the meantime, Larry Wilmore and Conan O’Brien have my political information at the ready, so that I can deal with all of the horror involved in politics, and the news in general, without feeling the need to weep uncontrollably. I can actually watch and laugh at the idiocy of it all. Speaking of which, here are two links to the most recent episodes of The Nightly Show. They are well worth watching, IMHO!

Also, here’s a re-posting of one of the funniest video game reviews that I’ve ever seen – just because!

What else…oh, yeah – baseball! The Seattle Mariners helped make MLB history last night in their 10-inning, 6 – 5 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. Every team that played at their home stadium yesterday came away with a victory on the same day…that’s 15 teams. First time ever!

Austin Jackson, who hit the winning run, gets doused by team-mate Logan Morrison

Hisashi Iwakuma pitches a perfect no-hitter in his first complete major-league game

Secondly, Hisashi Iwakuma pitched a perfect no-hitter today, elevating the Mariners to a delicious 3 – 0 win over Baltimore! It was the first time that an A.L. team had pitched one since…well, when “King” Felix Hernandez did it on 15 August 2012! Ah, I love my team…win or lose, I really enjoy watching them. At the end of the baseball season, I plan on doing my usual tribute to my favourite players of the season, as well as a small recap of the top three or five Mariners commercials. There are always some great ones, LOL

I’m working on a huge, nerdly, self-indulgent project that involves Twitch, learning live-streaming, and gaming, although learning that Amazon owns Twitch and it’s been hacked fairly recently makes me a bit nervous. I sincerely hope that I don’t need a camera on my computer; if so, then I’m not doing it, LOL

In nerd-speak, my project essentially involves this:

Gotta hook up the TS chat-line and group with some friends and guild-members to do a major zerg-ball on the castle. First, though, we have to do an extended siege and get some point-farming done on the bridge, because we can expect the heaviest resistance there. Watch out for the gank-squads on the way; we have some spotters hunkered down at the well to take out any noobs, and we have some small scouting squads checking the outpost perimeter so that they can’t flag it and cut off our mode of transport if you need to rez. Take care if you see the emperor or empress – you’ll get rekt hardcore and they will t-bag you mercilessly if you make a move on them!

Sorry if that wasn’t understandable…I speak geek (and Klingon, if you really must know)!

Finally, don’t forget to cast your vote on if you think I should change my avatar or leave it the same. The link to the post with the vote in it is here – I hope that I don’t have the settings buggered on it!

So…are you ready for the torrential flood? Are you ready for the onslaught of emotion and cut-to-the-chase intensity? Some are, and some aren’t…c’est la vie, non?

Those who have followed me and can read between the lines get it…and I appreciate them immensely, even if I don’t express it on a daily basis. All the rest are still trying to figure me out and place me in some narrow category. That won’t work. The more you try, the less you know…own it and accept it, and meet me on my grounds – otherwise, don’t even try.

The following links will either make things clear, or they will be lost on those who are trying to overthink things – I could care less either way. I speak pretty plainly. People who don’t understand me have chosen that option for themselves… *SHRUG*
