Notable Quotes: Vincent van Gogh

Writers, artists, and other creative, deep thinkers tend to say meaningful things which touch us in some way. Author, singer, actress, and poet Maya Angelou, as well as the poet Rumi, were two individuals who left behind some fantastic quotes which resonate with me.

Noted artist Vincent van Gogh was another, and I was inspired to post these three van Gogh quotes after seeing a re-airing of one of my favourite Doctor Who episodes.

These quotes, along with many others, can be found on the site in case you were interested in having a look.

“The fishermen know that the sea is dangerous and the storm terrible, but they have never found these dangers sufficient reason for remaining ashore.”
― Vincent van Gogh

“I try more and more to be myself, caring relatively little whether people approve or disapprove.”
― Vincent van Gogh

“Be clearly aware of the stars and infinity on high. Then life seems almost enchanted after all.”
― Vincent van Gogh

Ready, Willing & Able

For one to agree to something, they need to be ready, willing, and able to do what they have agreed to.

If you lack one of the above, then you will be unsuccessful in your endeavor every single time.

Collaboration requires the same commitment.

Those who lack the readiness, willingness, or ability to do something shouldn’t schedule important dealings with others.

I’m certainly ready and able to do many things. I’m just not willing to do those things with people who are DBR.

People suck. A lot. Being insufferable douchenozzles or annoying asshats are the only things that they are good at, and they go out of their way to be so, constantly and consistently.

On a positive note, there are also people who radiate genuine good-heartedness and true, open spirituality. They are rare and wonderful beings to encounter, and one never forgets the ones whom we are fortunate enough to happen across.

Never expect to see bravery or heroics in a coward; don’t expect fair or honourable treatment from a cheat, and don’t expect honesty from a liar.

It’s as simple as that.

I Play Computer Games.

Computer / video games are fun, entertaining, and harmless in the hands of mature, relatively sane individuals.

Mind games, and those who play them, are useless wastes of time. Don’t be a fuck-head. Don’t play mind games.

Post-Debate Midweek Music!!!

It’s time for some midweek music…post-debate edition, LOL! Enjoy…

41 Days To Go…

The first debate is in the books…and, to my knowledge, there are two more to come in these final 41 days of this election fever for the next POTUS. Me, I look for the humorous side to it all – because laughter is the best medicine! Enjoy this clip from Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, and The Daily Show with Trevor Noah – he has an excellent take on all this, as well!

Meandering Musings…20 October 2015

Doing a bit of thinking as I do some housework…my mind wanders as I vacuum, do dishes, and dust the light fixtures and the fans – making the spiders move their homes to different corners for awhile, LOL

I have lost some guild-mates and friends in-game, and lost some blog-followers…but, I gained more than I lost. Glacial progress seems to be the story of my life! Five steps forward, three steps back – it’s been that way for as long as I can remember.

I have barely paid much attention to the news lately – hatred, violence, and death abound. I’m sick of politics and could care less about which celebrity has done what to whom. Major ennui and apathy…only the animals in the yard and the other blogs I follow are bringing a smile to my face these past five days. I had a bit of hope when I saw a report last week, of a possible deal being made to return the young women kidnapped from Chibok, but nothing recently…they’ve now been away from their families and loved ones for 554 days.

Ah, well…enough of that for now. I suppose I feel like there’s some odd change brewing, and I can’t put my finger on it. I feel like I’m preparing for something, but I don’t know what I’m supposed to be preparing for…if that makes any sense, then I won’t worry too much.

Springtime Storms; 386 Days.

Spring rains in Washington State…it’s interesting; living on the coast where water is abundant, it is difficult to imagine living in drought-stricken areas. Parts of the Pacific Northwest have declared “water emergencies,” and snowpack levels in some of the mountain ranges are non-existent.

The curfew in Baltimore has been lifted. Grown men and women can actually go about their daily business again, while the worst gang of all – the thugs in blue – continue to patrol the streets with impunity. The quake-stricken regions of Nepal and the surrounding areas are still digging victims from the rubble…7,500+ people and counting…such devastating loss. The girls are still missing – it’s been 386 days now – but there is some small hope, I feel. Another group of girls and women who had also been abducted by Boko Haram were rescued…it looks like things are actively being done.

Sen’Derrick Marks, defensive tackle for the Jacksonville Jaguars, made a dream come true for this beautiful young lady – what a wonderful thing to see. There really are caring individuals in the world…it’s a shame that so much focus is on the shall0w, the self-absorbed, and the self-obsessed. Those types get little to no attention or mention by me; they receive far too much acclaim as it is for nothing, so – I’ll simply refer to them, collectively, as “They-Who-Should-STFU.”

It’s a nice day. I’m relaxing. Enjoy some music.
