Friday Funtime: Colbert, Conan, and ‘Wrecked!’

I think that a bit of comedy relief is needed, what with the bellicose atmosphere between Baby-Hands McDrumpf and Kim Jong-Un blanketing the week.

My taste in humour is not one that is easily pinned down, much like my personality or personal beliefs. Those who look to be offended by me, or anything that I say, are always going to be. I’m looking for positive and upbeat collaborators, not negative drama queens and self-absorbed shit-stirrers. With that said, the needless, mindless, and baseless criticisms of bullshit artists will no longer be entertained here.

😈

Now, on to the comedy! Please enjoy these five comedic clips that had me doubled over with laughter! Along with John Oliver and Samantha Bee, I rely on Conan O’Brien and Stephen Colbert to keep me smiling through these tense times. They, and the TBS television show ‘Wrecked,’ are genuine gems!

5 On Friday: Conan at Comic-Con®!

Comic-Con® is over for 2017; my in-game Mid-Year Mayhem will be ending soon. Since it began last week I’ve been geeking out, grinding, and giving salty grief and guff to other gamers as I stomp, shred, and get rekt in return! Since I have gaming on the brain, I selected my five favourite Conan O’Brien Comic-Con® skits. He has been attending that specific event for the past three years, and the footage he shares on his show has been awesomely funny – laugh along with me as we head into another fun-filled weekend!

Tuesday Afternoon…19 April 2016

The sun is out and it’s beautiful here! Temperature records have been smashed during the past couple of days; the day before yesterday, it was warmer in Seattle than it was in Honolulu – absolutely perfect!

Not much to say today, so I’ll just dive into the tiny tidbits of info I felt like sharing, LOL! First off, if any of my fellow nerds, “Blerds,” and other gaming geeks are in and around the Boston area, head on over to Pax East 2016 and see if you can attend a discussion with the developers and media managers of the MMORPG that I play, The Elder Scrolls Online! Quiz them on their sketchy Terms & Conditions, ask why racist and other exclusionary guilds are favoured, and ask why there is such an insistence on players using voice-only add-ons such as TeamSpeak, GameVox, Mumble, and others – it seems quite unfair to me that deaf gamers are shut out in PvP and other areas! I’m looking to see if they will be in my neck of the woods any time this year…I would sure love to ask them those questions, and more. My questions get evaded, avoided, and flat-out ignored in their forums and on their Live Twitch-chat feeds, so I figure that asking in person is the only way to go! For example, the picture below shows one of the many male gamers who use a female avatar for the sole purpose of harassing real female gamers such as myself. This asshat’s name is Sypher, LOL – and he has a major fan base of total fan-boyz!
XD

Let’s see, what else…oh, yes – yesterday, 18 April, was the birthday of my favourite, lanky, red-haired comedian, Conan O’Brien! He is taking the week off from his show, understandably, so I figured that I’d post a few of his best (in my opinion) comedy clips – including the entire episode of his most recent trip to South Korea! He has also gone to Finland, Ireland, and Armenia, and entertained the troops overseas. His brand of self-deprecating humour has always cracked me up – so I hope that you enjoy these selections!

Midweek Musings…27 January 2016

I’ve had a few thoughts percolating in my head for some time; now that the Mercury retrograde transit is over, it just might be safe to throw them out into the blog-o-sphere!

First, my opinion about the current political atmosphere here in the States:

Trump is a racist, fascist, neo-nazi asshole who is only supported by the same ilk. Get a fucking clue, people – he has WHITE SUPREMACIST GROUPS ROBO-CALLING YOU FOR YOUR VOTE. If that isn’t obvious, then you’re hopeless. And you have the nerve to call President Obama the same, or worse, for saying or doing far less than Trump does…yeah, your state of mind speaks volumes. Go smoke meth with Palin and screech incoherent lies while you’re at it! Trump is an internet troll come to life, being a ringmaster and dancing his puppets around – he’s not presidential material.

• I have a question for those of you who are “feelin’ the Bern” and have jumped on the Sanders bandwagon: Please tell me how campaign finance reform helps me, today, right now. That should be discussed and worked on BETWEEN campaigns, not during, no? I find it amusing, too, that a lot of his supporters are under the age of 25…the same people who look at me and say that I’m “old” or “out-of-touch,” even though I’m only 10 years their senior. If you think that I’m old and out-of-touch, how is a 75-year-old fossil saying anything new? Newsflash, kiddies: an idea or “talking point” isn’t new, just because you haven’t heard it before. Plenty of things have been said before you were born – that’s what libraries and archives are for. Use them! Limiting yourself to “interwebs-only” research does you a great disservice.

• Can the misogyny and woman-bashing towards Ms. Clinton stop, already? Seriously. Benghazi was (and apparently still is) a huge distraction and waste of time, as are the emails. Her husband’s past infidelity is just that – PAST. She chose to forgive him and move on, which is her right as the wronged spouse. He isn’t running for president now, as he already served two terms – so get over it, people.

• Martin O’Malley is a nice change of pace, if only due to the fact that he isn’t using the same stale talking-points and buzzwords that his opponents are – but, his “All lives matter” remark still sticks in my craw. He might make a decent VP, if nothing else.

Next, just a small rant about socializing online:

• I hate it when people “un-friend” me in-game, especially due to a misunderstanding that they chose to take personally – what makes it worse is that it was instigated by a third party! I despise manipulative people, yet they seem to control the social activities of nearly everyone they have in their respective guilds. I’ve been called ‘n00b’ and been accused of being “butt-hurt” for asking a genuine, straightforward question, and been insulted and disrespected for nothing. Meanwhile, the zone-trolls, shit-talkers, manipulators and wh0res gain popularity by association, and monopolize the PvP groups shamelessly. It’s amazing: people claim that they don’t like being used or lied to, and can’t stand drama, yet they gravitate to those types like bees to honey. I know – I should look at it as “flies to shit,” because that’s essentially what it is…but I still get frustrated. I’m worth knowing, even if I don’t shove a camera up my cooze!

• I’m contemplating a GoFundMe site…other people get donations, so why shouldn’t I? I’m not the only one who would benefit from the generosity and/or kindness of strangers, so at least I’m not being selfish in my thoughts!

I’m glad that my late-night shows are back with new episodes. Trevor, Larry, Stephen, and Conan keep me laughing through all of the political nonsense and general, senseless bullshit that occurs daily. I placed a few, choice links throughout this post – sort of like a comedy scavenger hunt! I hope that you found them and enjoyed them, LOL

Well, that’s it for now. I’m getting some other posts done between the 5 – 10 daily computer crashes, which include two awards posts, a quote challenge, and some long-overdue gaming fan-fiction! I will also be doing some final testing of my live-streaming Twitch channel, including a viewing schedule in case anyone out there wants to watch and give some feedback on the viewing quality. I’d appreciate it!

If You Don’t Mind…

…I just wanted to share Conan O’Brien’s touching tribute to David Bowie on his show the other night. The first two clips will surely make you smile or laugh out loud, as I did…and the third will certainly have you weeping, as I did.

Comedic Interlude…1st Friday!

It’s Friday and I could use a healthy dose of laughter after wanting to weep all week over the tragedies worldwide. Below are a few of my select, favourite comedic clips…enjoy them or don’t – hopefully, at least one of them will make you bust up!

F**K it Friday!!!

LOL – no, I’m not in a bad mood. A little snarky, feeling aggro and frustrated, perhaps, but not necessarily in a bad mood! Exasperatedly amused is another way to describe how I’m feeling, I suppose. What is causing this consternation? Simple: nobody knows how to socialize face-to-face anymore! I used to think that I was socially inept because I could read people TOO well and never played the ‘social butterfly’ at parties. I’m a very sensitive ISTP, meaning that I feel drained by people sometimes. My husband’s energy can be chaotic – mine can too, of course – but it grates on me when I’m trying to relax and focus.

Anyway, back to the topic: socializing. The way people socialize has (d)evolved dramatically with the age of the internet, and it appears I have to catch up with the times. Face-to-face interactions are now done on webcam, through mediums like Skype or Twitch. People ‘stream’ themselves into other’s homes, virtually. Mere conversations aren’t enough…the pressure to prove that one isn’t a robot or a bottom-feeding ‘catfish’ seems constant. At the same time, every so-called ‘social’ website seems to do little more than create drama and nonsense, especially among those whose need for attention drives them to interfere in the lives and relationships of others. People create phony online personas out of sheer boredom, not caring about whose lives they might turn upside-down.

I like my privacy and my ‘fortress of solitude’ – but, I also know that I have to be a little more open if I’m going to sell my books. I have to step outside of my walls and my comfort zone…and I hate it. I don’t want to, but I have to. Sometimes in life, we have to do the things we don’t like to get ahead and accomplish a life-long dream. I have to be seen, be known, and become familiar to others. I have to put in ‘face-time’ – and that really chafes my buttocks!

Time for a bit of honesty and levity from the past week. I watch The Daily Show, The Nightly Show, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and Conan O’Brien regularly – they are my main means of getting news and information without raging or weeping…a dose of comedy eases the bad taste of events around the world. Below are three great discussions – enjoy!

Friday Milestone…100 Followers!!!

I am ecstatic, elated, humbled and honoured! After grinding in my MMORPG from 2:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. PDT (-8 GMT) and taking a much-needed nap after completing an in-game campaign, I woke up to this wonderful notification: 100 WordPress followers…wow!

I’m speechless, LOL – I didn’t think I would reach 100 followers before the end of the year, especially since I sometimes seem to lose as many followers as I gain! There is at least one person who has been here from day one…I STILL SEE YOU, HERNIE!!! For now, I’ll simply post five in-game screenshots from the past 24 hours:

…also, here are five great songs to start the weekend off right – enjoy!

Friday Fun-time: 11 September 2015!

Sorry about that – I ‘disconnected’ for a couple of days with no warning! Just from my blog, guild-site, and email – not from my game…I needed to vegetate a bit. I’ll be catching up on everyone’s blogs in a little while! I spent some time outside, in between rain showers, measuring the overgrowth and getting ready to butcher the plants around the property. They are encroaching on the path in the breezeway, around the pump-house and garage, and trying to take over in the driveway. I still don’t know what half of the plants around my house are, other than the rhododendrons, holly, pampas grass, sedge, bamboo, huckleberry bushes, and wild raspberries and salmon-berries. I think that I have honey-suckle near the front fence, and foxgloves and lilies flower nicely a couple of times during the summer, in random places. The deer have been foraging on a regular basis – I really need to get some vertical blinds so that it is easier to take pictures from inside the house without disturbing them.

I haven’t looked at the online news yet this morning, but I watched a little of the crapfest on TV last night. TV news is annoying to me, for the most part. I wanted to see what is going on in the world; same old, same old, apparently. What a pleasant woman that was, kicking a little girl and then tripping up a man carrying a child. How nice. Tom Brady apparently succeeded in pissing and moaning about his deserved suspension, so now it’s been overturned. You can be a cheating, lying douchebag and keep your job…as long as you’re famous, that is. As far as the political circus goes, every station seems to be doing their best “all Trump, all the time” grab for ratings. That makes me want to get the bumper sticker that Stephen Colbert displayed on his show! So glad that he’s back, and I’m glad that Stephen remained his Stephen-y self. My DVR will be getting a workout between Colbert and Conan O’Brien, while I watch Trevor Noah and Larry Wilmore! I need my medicine called laughter…in extra doses, these days.

I have recruited a few new people into my guild, and now the number balance is off – so I need to recruit a few more! Don’t ask…I’ll explain later. Just one of my quirks…we all have them, so I’m not alone in that! I’ve decided that now is the time to go for the achievement of being crowned empress, and that will be a chore and a half – I just know it! It will be a lot of painful fun, and very physically and mentally demanding…it amazes me that a long gaming session can feel like running a 100-meter dash – or, sitting in traffic for two hours!

Speaking of trying things…I love my husband. I really do. He just talks WAY too much! I told him the other day that I was going to buy him a “Mr. Slave” outfit and a ball gag, and put him in one of those swings for two hours, forcing him to watch a One Foot in the Grave marathon – I have the whole series on DVD. What do you think: sound like a good idea, or too extreme? Maybe I’ll just settle for the outfit and the ball-gag…as long as he’s quiet!
