Thursday Comedy Mashup

“Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” will be back next week, so here is a comedy mashup of some good stuff from the past week.

Five on Friday: Comedy Mash-Up

Five On Friday: Celeb Spotlight

Today’s “Five on Friday” post puts the spotlight on my five favourite living celebrities. They are the people who I always enjoy seeing when they’re being interviewed on the few late-night talk-shows that I watch.

1. First off, Whoopi Goldberg. She was hilarious when she first started her comedy career back when I was still a wee kiddie, and she’s funny as all get-out when she sits down with Conan O’Brien or Stephen Colbert. She pulls no punches and speaks her mind, similar to yours truly. I don’t watch her on “The View” because I’m not really into daytime shows of any sort. She was excellent in her role as Guinan, the manager of Ten Forward on the starship Enterprise in Star Trek: The Next Generation. I also enjoyed her performances in The Color Purple and Serafina.

2. Next, there’s Wanda Sykes. What can I add that hasn’t been said already? She does a bit of everything and does it well. I first saw her on the Keenan Ivory Wayans Show, and liked her recurring role on the Drew Carey Show – she played one of Drew’s love interests. I have her book and enjoy reading it from time to time. She’s funny, talented, and has a distinctive voice that stood out on the Comedy Central show Crank Yankers. Look that show up sometime if you need a laugh or ten.

3. Ricky Gervais: he cracks me up whether he’s being interviewed by Conan O’Brien, Stephen Colbert, or Trevor Noah but his interviews with Conan really stand out. I think that he’s the only person I’d follow if I had an Instagram account. The selfies he takes are fucking hilarious, and I think the selected image illustrates it well.

4. Terry Crews: he’s just awesome! I thought he was great in the role of Chris’s dad in the series Everbody Hates Chris, which is based on the life of actor / comedian Chris Rock. He wasn’t bad in The Expendables either, and his last interview on Conan O’Brien had me falling over with laughter.

5. Finally, Jeff Goldblum: he plays many serious roles but manages to interject his own personality and sense of humor into them. I loved him in Jurassic Park, Independence Day, and his brief role as detective Zach Nichols on Law & Order: Criminal Intent. I also look forward to seeing him as the Grandmaster in Thor: Ragnarok. Whether he’s sharing the stage with Conan O’Brien or Stephen Colbert, he is so off-the-cuff funny he can take you by surprise at the most unexpected times.

Finally, here is a funny video starring Jon Stewart, Conan O’Brien, and Stephen Colbert. This is the infamous “Late Night Wars” from a few years back. I would apologize for the poor video quality, but it isn’t mine so I’m not responsible.

Tuesday Tidbits: Comedy Clips

Here’s a small mish-mash of comedy bits from the past week. Laughter is the best medicine!

😀

Thursday Mashup

Since there was no new episode of Full Frontal with Samantha Bee aired last night, I figured I’d mash up this blog post with a few comedic clips from my other late-night helper elves.

Some of the clips are from 2016. You will see why.

Friday Fun-Time: “Hollow-Day” Edition! (Re-blogged)

This post from last year deserved a re-airing on its anniversary.

Eyrie Of An Aries

Ah, December…the month where everyone that you know is suddenly going overboard with shoving holiday cheer down your throat, and blowing so much crap up your arse you feel like you’re going to fart snowflakes, tinsel, and candy canes! All of this hollow “good-will” starts well before Hallowe’en, mind you, so some of us are beyond sick of xmas before the end of November. That, combined with the paranoid screeching about the nonsensical, imaginary “war” on xmas has me completely over the whole “peace on Earth” thing which doesn’t seem to exist, as of late. I’m not a pessimist; It isn’t about the glass being “half-full” or “half-empty,” I just look at the reality of a situation and call it what it is.

I’ve been noticing an interesting trend for at least a decade: the amount of “hard-luck” stories explode exponentially during this time of year, and have gotten worse…

Friday Funtime: Colbert, Conan, and ‘Wrecked!’

I think that a bit of comedy relief is needed, what with the bellicose atmosphere between Baby-Hands McDrumpf and Kim Jong-Un blanketing the week.

My taste in humour is not one that is easily pinned down, much like my personality or personal beliefs. Those who look to be offended by me, or anything that I say, are always going to be. I’m looking for positive and upbeat collaborators, not negative drama queens and self-absorbed shit-stirrers. With that said, the needless, mindless, and baseless criticisms of bullshit artists will no longer be entertained here.

😈

Now, on to the comedy! Please enjoy these five comedic clips that had me doubled over with laughter! Along with John Oliver and Samantha Bee, I rely on Conan O’Brien and Stephen Colbert to keep me smiling through these tense times. They, and the TBS television show ‘Wrecked,’ are genuine gems!

Conan O’Brien: A Message from the Guam Tourist Board

‘Wrecked’ on TBS: Best of Season 1

Mid-Week Amusements: Food & Comedy!

It’s a nice, relaxing Wednesday, and the delicious aroma of home-made beef stew is wafting through the house. Cooking is such an enjoyable thing to do, especially with fresh ingredients! I figured that I’d show a few of the vegetables which I like to use in stews, much like my previous post about the things I toss in with my chicken soup.

Onions, shallots, and garlic make up the base – I don’t think that any dinner is complete unless it has at least one of those flavourful bulbs included! Carrots may or may not be used, since the variety of root vegetables used more than makes up for their omission. These herbs and vegetables round out the meal:

Thyme

Rosemary

Oregano

Parsnip

Turnip

Rutabaga

Red potatoes

I love using fresh herbs of many different types…the picture below shows a few of my go-tos.

Baseball season is just around the corner – I’m looking forward to it, as always! When spring arrives, the “Boys of Summer” aren’t far behind…also, my comedy shows are back with new episodes, after being pre-empted by the overly long and drawn-out “March Madness.” Don’t get me wrong, I like basketball well enough. I just happen to prefer baseball, football (American, non-arena), and rugby if / when I can catch it on television!

Anyway, since I’m amusing myself with some choice comedy bits, I thought that I’d share them with you. Sometimes, a good laugh does a body good, and these clips had me in a fit of giggles!

Shining the Blacklight on American Democracy

Drumpf’s Agenda: Today, America…Tomorrow, the World!

Conan O’Brien talks about the United Airlines dress code

Conan O’Brien hits Comic-Con(R) Mad Max-Style (2015)

Finally, this post wouldn’t be complete without a couple of nods to yesterday’s post about bots and the role they play in various online scams. Behind every bot, troll, sock-puppet and cat-phish is someone looking to give you the old “Rick-Roll!”

Tuesday Tidbits…13 December 2016

It’s a particularly awesome day, today! It’s a special one – why, you may ask? Because it is, that’s why! That should be good enough, I’d wager. I’ll give a little hint, though: it’s a day celebrated annually by some, and involves the giving of gifts and toasting good fortune, and the gift that I have is one that I’ve needed and wanted for some time! Anything that keeps me in fighting trim is necessary, and the garbage advertised on television leaves much to be desired – I’ve yet to see my machine advertised anywhere, personally; and it is a brand that has been around for 20 years or more. Yes, I’m now the proud owner of a circuit-training home gym and couldn’t be happier! Free-weights, kettle-bells, and ellipticals are fine and dandy, but my ideal workout has always included a “universal” machine – and, best of all, I don’t have to go to a stinky, sweaty, germ-filled “fitness center!” How anyone can stand those places is beyond me…seriously, every single time I tried to have a membership in any sort of health club, I would get sick within a week no matter how much I cleaned the machines before and after I used them. I didn’t pay to get sick, I paid to work-out, but muscle-heads and cheese-cakes were too busy primping and posing on the machines instead of using them, so they were a waste of my time and money, LOL! Exercising in the peace, quiet, and comfort of my own home is best for me.

It’s cold out there, but I don’t mind because I was able to see the beautiful moon last night, and should be able to see it again tonight when it reaches complete fullness. Clear skies means colder weather, but the sunshine is very refreshing after what seems like a straight month and a half of clouds, rain, hail, snow, and nearly every other type of precipitation you can imagine, except for sleet! Gotta bundle up before walking on the beach…

Time for some music, and I have to do some cooking! Beef stew for lunch, game hens for dinner…the only thing that sucks about cooking is the cleaning and prepping, but it’s still worth it. Talk to ya later, gators!

Friday Fun & Foolishness!!!

Well, whaddya know…we actually got some snow! It started coming down yesterday morning at around 11:30 PST, changing back to rain near midnight. I enjoyed it while it was around – I even went out and built a little snowman on the top of my car, LOL

Since it’s Friday and I’m in a good mood, I figured I’d treat you to some silly comedy, funny memes, and a bit of music…enjoy while I get back to doing some gaming!
