PAX West 2016

Holy shit on toast, Batman…I survived my first convention! Damn, was it crowded – but it was hellaciously fun. Meeting the Bethesda ESO team was a kick in the pants! I got some free game codes to hand out to my niece and nephews; there were some awesome costumes and displays to take pictures of, and I got a few nice T-shirts. One was free and two were not, but the free stuff wasn’t bad at all!

All four days went by very quickly, which means that I had a great time. Time flies when you’re having fun, after all! The crowds bothered me far less than I thought that they would, and I was happy to see hand sanitizer stations everywhere: outside of the restrooms, near the elevators and escalators, and right outside of the “Arena” – the place in the convention center where consoles and PCs were set up for anyone and everyone to jump on and play whichever game they wanted to.

There were four consoles and four PCs set up in the Bethesda room, all loaded up with the ESO North American (NA) client and the Public Test Server (PTS). The newest update at that time (12), which introduced One Tamriel and the dueling system, was a ton of fun to test out while they streamed LIVE ON TWITCH for all four days! I got completely rekt by one of the gaming designers on the live-stream, and my smiling face can also be seen by those who know and love me. It was all too awesome!

Time for me to test out a few new in-game settings and recording settings! My new webcam also arrived and I plan on hooking it up to see how it performs, but only after I get the pictures downloaded from my phone for future posts. I took quite a few so I hope that they turn out!

It’s Friday and I’m in a fantastic mood, so enjoy this bit of random silliness to get your weekend started off right.

😎

Tuesday Tunes!

I was so excited yesterday…I thought that my computer issues had miraculously resolved themselves, somehow! I managed to record 12 minutes of gaming footage for the first time since February of this year – but was unable to upload it to YouTube, which should have told me that there was still a problem. When I tried to do a test broadcast, it was CRASH city all over again, and now it’s back to the same old, same old crash and burn when I try to record. Back to square one! On the plus side, though, I managed to get my webcam to work…it didn’t like the USB ports on the topside, but had no issues with the ones on the back of the computer – there are four in all on the back, and three on the top – so I’ll be able to do some vlog tests soon! With One Tamriel launching tomorrow, there’s a 50 / 50 chance that gaming will be a hassle while the ZOS people do their expected, post-launch hotfixes – so I might have time before the weekend! Feel free to check out the gaming footage here, if you’re so inclined.

I’m going to do a bit of grinding for now…I need to get a few of my toons to veteran level, and I’ve neglected my poor guild horribly lately – I need to do some recruiting, LOL!

In the meantime, enjoy these three random songs – cheers, all!

Scenes From PAX West 2016!

I finally “cracked the code” that allowed me to download my pictures from cell-phone to computer. Success with technology, in spite of Mercury Retrograde!
😉

Please enjoy these select scenes from PAX West 2016, held at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, Washington from Friday, 2 September – Monday, 5 September. It was crowded as hell, and the Friday traffic was the worst out of all the days we attended.

We had to drive through three different parking garages until we found one that had spaces left! $27 – $30 (USD) per day for all four days. Parking cost the most, since we budgeted our meals and limited what we purchased at the event.

The game “Magic: The Gathering” had something going on at the Paramount Theatre, just up the block. This animated sculpture was leading a parade up the street:

I could only get the backside of this cool costume:

Inside, these two struck a pose:

…and this guy was trying out a Virtual Reality (VR) game:

Took a break for lunch at the Daily Grill, an excellent restaurant to stop in at for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! This appetizer was divine: lightly seared ahi tuna crusted with sesame seeds; pickled cucumber, pickled ginger, and deep-fried spinach…it was fantastic!

Back inside, I saw some cool sculptures that commanded attention:

Here are some random shots of the Bethesda room, where all of the ESO stuff was going on:

…and finally, here are a few pictures of the team that puts this awesome game together! It was neat to meet them face-to-face and talk with them…they’re a decent bunch of people!

That’s all for now. I hope that you enjoyed viewing the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them and attending the event.
