R.I.P., Natalie Cole

Legendary singer Natalie Cole, daughter of singing legend Nat King Cole, passed away on 31 December, 2015. She was 65 years of age. From the Huffington Post:

Natalie died Thursday evening at Cedar Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles due to complications from ongoing health issues, her family said in a statement.

“Natalie fought a fierce, courageous battle, dying how she lived … with dignity, strength and honor. Our beloved Mother and sister will be greatly missed and remain UNFORGETTABLE in our hearts forever,” read the statement from her son Robert Yancy and sisters Timolin and Casey Cole.

Cole had battled drug problems and hepatitis that forced her to undergo a kidney transplant in May 2009. Cole’s older sister, Carol “Cookie” Cole, died the day she received the transplant. Their brother, Nat Kelly Cole, died in 1995.

Natalie Cole was inspired by her dad at an early age and auditioned to sing with him when she was just 11 years old. She was 15 when he died of lung cancer, in 1965.

She began as an R&B singer but later gravitated toward the smooth pop and jazz standards that her father loved.

Cole’s greatest success came with her 1991 album, “Unforgettable … With Love,” which paid tribute to her father with reworked versions of some of his best-known songs, including “That Sunday That Summer,” ”Too Young” and “Mona Lisa.”

Her voice was spliced with her dad’s in the title cut, offering a delicate duet a quarter-century after his death.

The album sold some 14 million copies and won six Grammys, including album of the year as well record and song of the year for the title track duet.”

I’m speechless…another beautiful voice vanishing into the wind and the astral plane. Sing across the stars, Natalie – go with the ages.

New Year’s Eve…2015!

Here it is…New Year’s Eve! Well, it still is in my neck of the woods – I know that it’s already New Year’s Day in Australia, Japan, India, Tibet, the Philippines, Europe, every country in Africa, and Iceland!

My other, in-depth posts about awards and other things will have to wait, as my computer will be crashing often until I’m able to upgrade the other components. In the meantime, editing blog-posts will take much patience – at least my game runs properly, so I’m still able to get my frustrations out through much virtual slaughter! Hopefully, I’ll get to engage in quite a bit more role-playing in 2016 than I did in 2015…the good kind, of course.

I’ll keep this post short and sweet…Happy New Year, everyone!

Slade: “Here’s to the New Year”

Hey lads and lasses, come raise up your glasses
Make sure they’re filled up to the hilt
Goin’ on the brink again, buy me a drink
And I’ll show you what’s under my kilt – whoo!

So here’s to the New Year
Here’s to yourself
Cheers to you far and near
Here’s to your health!

Hey lads and lasses, come raise up your glasses
The party’s been rockin’ all day
Goin’ on the midnight and all of us getting tight
Big Ben is bangin’ away!

One more wee toddy in our lily bodies, I’m hope (s)he’s the same over there
We’re gonna let the new year in – what noise, what a din
All put your hands in the air…come on!
(Chorus x2)
La, La-La, La La, La-La-La La…(repeat and fade)

Some Midweek Madness!!!

LOL – well, sort of…I’m learning the limitations of my game recording! Here is another video of my gaming action; 13 minutes of PvP death and destruction! The final 2 minutes are nothing but load-screen limbo…we gamers are all too familiar with this, and / or the dreaded “Lag Monster!” I’ve also discovered that my clips can only be around 13 – 15 minutes long, which is fine with me…sometimes, I only get about 15 minutes worth of decent gaming footage after 5 hours of play, LOL!
Enjoy this clip…I call it, “Save the Sanctuary!”

Monday Musings…

I wanted to avoid the news as much as possible since there’s nothing being talked about, save for the Stupid Stump and how outraged people pretend to be over everything he says – as if anything that he says is shocking anymore. It would be like expecting a member of the Ku Klux Klan to say something positive about Black people! The joke’s over, folks…it’s time to call that racist shitbag what he is. He isn’t fit to be President, and people who believe that he should be have some serious issues. I know of two people, personally, who actually say that he’s the “right man for the job” – needless to say, I am not going to visit them, or have them over, anytime soon…if ever again!

I also have to hear about more shootings in Chicago. 19-year-old Quintonio LeGrier and 55-year-old Bettie Jones were shot and killed by police, who were supposedly responding to a domestic dispute between Quintonio and his father. Bettie was a downstairs neighbour. Tamir Rice, the 12-year old boy who was murdered by a cop, will also see no justice…his killer gets to walk free and clear, just as the filthy murderer of Trayvon Martin has gloated and laughed every day since his acquittal.

The young ladies abducted by Boko Harm have been gone from their families and loved ones for 623 days, now. My heart breaks for them…it’s closing in on two years of hell for them.

No, I’m not depressed or in a bad mood – I’m just reflecting on goings-on as the year comes to a close. Just because I get focused on, and involved with, my own personal projects, doesn’t mean that I’m not thinking about other people who are important to me, or things that impact my life positively or negatively.

I will be relaxing and reading more this week, gaming (of course), and posting here and there when I’m able to! Minor glitches are still occurring, but nothing that I can’t manage and work through. I have a couple of great posts lined up for New Year’s Eve…I hope that you all enjoy reading them as much as I’ve enjoyed composing them!

Last, but certainly not least, I wanted to note two passings. First, that of a talented, legendary, genius of an athlete and comedian – Meadowlark Lemon. He rose to fame with the Harlem Globetrotters, and passed away today at the age of 83.

Second, frontman for the heavy metal band Motörhead, Lemmy Kilmister, passed away today at the age of 70. It was only two days after he received a diagnosis of a particularly aggressive cancer – he had turned 70 on 25th December.

Rest in peace, gentlemen – in your individual ways, you brought joy to millions, if not billions, of people.

Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3…

Let’s see how this looks…I think that I’m almost finished! The live-streaming junk will take a little bit longer, LOL

Some Saturday Scenery…

I’m doing more testing since my computer wants to crash every couple of hours, but I think that I have everything else prepped and ready to go…so, I’m nearly ready to launch my live-stream and post a few of my gaming videos! Please enjoy some Pacific Northwest and in-game scenery on this 1st Day of Kwanzaa and Boxing Day, in the meantime.

Happy Holidays

Blessed Solstice, Joyous Yuletide, and Merry Hannukwaanzamas!

I’m thoroughly satiated on Doctor Who, and currently watching my favourite rendition of my favourite holiday tale: the 1951 television version of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.” Do watch it sometime, if you’ve a mind to… ’tis a time when people still had acting chops. A gesture and an expression, with some timely music, evoke emotions that mere emoticons and emojis can never convey. This is why I’m a role-playing dinosaur – creative descriptions are where it’s at, and few know how to do so anymore. C’est la vie…it is what it is. 😉

Anyway – I hope that you and yours are enjoying whatever you celebrate, wherever you are! Enjoy a bit of irreverent holiday humour as I get ready to launch some insanity.

Werewolf Wednesday!

The full moon approaches, the coastal storms continue and my Very Important Project nears completion. I also note a few more awards that have come my way, which gives me plenty to write about and complete over the weekend…in the meantime, enjoy some pictures and songs about wolves and werewolves!

Blessed Solstice & Birthday Wishes!

It’s here! It’s here! The Winter Solstice…the shortest day of the year…the cycle of the seasons continues ever on. For those of you who need the exact time, the Solstice officially enters my neck of the woods at 20:48 PST, which is -8 hours of GMT.

Today also marks the birthday of my closest sibling, my younger brother. He’s basically nearly 3 years my junior, since my birthday is in March. He’s the Winter Solstice child, while I’m the Vernal Equinox baby – we’re seasonal! I just wanted to say “Blessed be” to my family, friends, and all other loved ones here, there, and everywhere! Also, Happy birthday, little brother – I’m glad you made it through another year. We’ll find a kidney for you soon, I hope…just remember to do your part and take care of your health so that you’re ready for it.

Back to my own V.I.P. – my ‘Very Important Project!’ So far, so good…testing is going well and my vid-cam is cooperating nicely with my new video software, so I hope to have some awesome stuff to post over the next few days. Stay tuned – I definitely appreciate your patience! In the meantime, enjoy these three songs…and I must mention this! For Doctor Who fans in the U.S.A. who are lucky enough to have BBC America, there is a special television treat beginning early tomorrow morning, so check your listings: a marathon of episodes to satisfy even the most die-hard Whovian! You’re most welcome.
