Memorial Day

Today marks the national holiday of Memorial Day here in the States. The day set aside to pause and remember those brave men and women who gave their lives in service to this country. A lot of people get it confused with Veterans’ Day, but they are separate days of remembrance.

I pay tribute to remember my uncle Kermit, who died in the Vietnam War well before I was born. For the longest time I didn’t even know his name. I plan on going to the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D. C. one day to take a rubbing of his name. If the “traveling memorial wall” comes through the Pacific Northwest again before that time, I will take one from that to frame until I’m able to visit the real thing.

To Kermit, and to all who made the ultimate sacrifice, thank you. There aren’t enough words to express the gratitude and sorrow that I feel when I think of the fallen. These images and this song will do.

Sunday Screen-Shots: Summerset Scenery

Here are a few screen-shots from the first week of early-access play. Summerset is a lot of fun, so far!

5 On Friday: The Eyes Have It

Today’s “Five on Friday” post puts the focus on the organs purported to be the windows to the soul: the eyes.

Some people can never look another in the eyes when they speak. This is because they are deceitful liars with no souls. They sold them at an early age.

I suppose it was worth it to them, yes?

Progress & Updates

The weather has been great over the past couple of weeks, which has enabled us to tackle some of the yardwork and landscaping projects around the house.

New neighbors require a better privacy screen, so the riot of bamboo in the back yard is now lining the fence between our property and theirs. It looks perfect, and I love taking my first morning cup of coffee outside to stand and listen to the leaves rustling in the breeze. A fresh load of compost was delivered and spread yesterday, which should keep the bamboo happy and thriving.

The birds have been active with nest-building and the lawn-scraps make perfect material for them to use. The deer have been running about as well. The young stags are already trying to assert their dominance and territories, even with the velvet still covering their growing antlers.

I’m still gaming and have finally gotten all programs functioning properly. I can now broadcast gaming sessions on Twitch or Facebook, and will soon have new recorded sessions up on my YouTube account. I updated my gaming links as well; go to the ‘Multimedia Links’ page here on my blog to get the new addresses.

Working out and writing round out my daily activities. I have more than enough to make a real publisher happy. I just have to find the right one. Slow progress, but forward-moving all the same. No complaints here.

Full Frontal Thursday: GA Primaries, Abortion Restrictions, ICE, & Yemen

In today’s edition of “Full Frontal Thursday,” Sam talks about the upcoming mid-term elections and how Democrats in Georgia have surprised her with their nomination of Stacy Abrams. It will be interesting to see how that plays out. History tells me that whichever one of her hate-filled RethugliKKKan opponents happens to be will win that election because, you know, Trump supporters.

Speaking of Baby-Hands, he’s back to attacking Planned Parenthood and continues to spin conspiracy theories about Barack Obama’s administration.

Sam also talks about ICE, how it formed after 9/11, and what a useless waste of time and money it has been from its inception.

Finally, she shines the spotlight on Yemen and attempts to educate the ignorant about the war in Yemen that the USA is involved in. Educating the ignorant, even with a popular television show, is difficult at best. That’s why I quit wasting my time trying to do so.

I blog because I like to. It’s fun.

Tuesday Tunes: Summer-set

“The summer sun sets on Summerset.” – song title on a purloined item in TESO

To celebrate the early access gameplay of Summerset, the newest chapter of The Elder Scrolls Online which launched yesterday, I offer up these three songs about summer.

Last Week Tonight: Rehab

In today’s edition of “Last Week Tonight,” John puts the spotlight on the rehab industry and how it is a revolving-door of scams operated by bullshit artists out to con the last dime from any sloppy addict. They guy who looked like Matt Lauer fucked a pair of sunglasses was certainly not hurting for money, evidenced by his cocaine-fueled attitude and steroid-enhanced biceps! ROFL

I’ve seen the commercial for that Passages place. Pax Prentiss stating that “Passages works. I should know. I was an addict for 10 years. Now, I’m not.” Nothing said about the treatment they offer. Just scenes of people working out, doing yoga, and getting acupuncture. That should be a red flag for anyone looking for real treatment, yes?

Then again, there are plenty of scammers out there who offer help and claim to have the answer to anything. The only answer they don’t have is how much money they expect you to cough up before they deign to offer said help. Even then, it is only pretense.
