Beautiful moon-shots…nearly full! Perfect backdrop for the soaring or the perching.

These are all beautiful shots, but that last one is just perfect. 😀

I only get two or three days per month to get any half decent moon shots. The best days are the three days just before the full moon. The next full moon is tomorrow (Thursday Jan 12),so my moon shots are done for another month.I only got one day this month. The moons orbit is further north than usual.Meares island blocked my view.I actually went looking for it down the inlet? Couldn’t find it? Than I saw it coming over Meares already getting high in the sky.A full moon is fine, but you always have to have a primary subject in the foreground.Eagles are perfect subjects! So tonight my feathered friends Romeo & Juliette helped me get a few moon shots. They didn’t perch where I wanted them to.I even went over to the tree where I wanted them to come but they just stared at me.I swear they get stubborn sometimes!

I’ll have clear skies tonight, so might get a decent view of the fully Full Moon! I’m going to try a little photography trick that I saw mentioned on another person’s blog…hopefully it will work!

the moon will be rising just as the sun is setting. So whatever your shooting It’ll be a silhouette.Thats why I like the three days leading up to the full moon. The foreground subjects are in golden light! Good luck!

The moon was actually perfect last night – just after midnight! It was high up and clear to see, but my phone camera just isn’t cooperative. Definitely going to invest in a proper camera, quite soon!

defiantly! Trying to expose for a moon already that high & bright is tricky. You need to switch the mode to Manual & stop down until the moons brightness is manageable. Most shots just show it like the sun,a big ball of bright light.
