Random Friday Ramblings…23 December 2016!

It’s Friday…whoo-hoo!!! I always love Fridays, whether I’m working or not – go figure, eh? Anyway, I just put in my annual calendar order today, along with some necessary, much-needed workout gear. It’s been a while since I bought workout clothes, and what’s really funny is that my workout gear doubles as ideal gaming gear! So, to bore you all to tears, here is what I wear whilst working out or gaming…and hard-core gamers know that an intense PvP gaming session, or a mindless XP grind, is a workout in and of itself, LOL!

DISCLAIMER: I receive no compensation for the products that I use, so this is strictly my opinion only! Would I love to get some free gear and do a review? Sure! But, I’m not on Facebook – that’s why I don’t get free products. I pay real money for what I use, LOL

First off, I prefer Tommie Copper clothing. Comfort, durability, fit, and it looks good on me – those are the reasons I like it. Other fitness brands just look ugly to me, and seem to be made for anorexics who do nothing but spinning classes. I do circuit training and yoga, mainly. My elliptical machine is for fall and winter, or rainy days in the spring and summer, but I enjoy getting out on my bicycle and riding on the beach. I’m still on the lookout for a decent rowing machine, too – almost got one at the same time I bought my weight machine, but it was already sold out…so, I’ll keep looking!

Anyway, the workout gear is this:
-Compression wrist supports
-Comfort / support top
-Back brace (upper-body workout days)
-Compression shorts
-Knee supports (or full-leg compression for lower-body / leg exercises)
-Compression ankle supports
-Vibram(R) Five-fingers(T) shoes

For gaming, I wear the gloves and the wrist supports, a t-shirt with a smart-ass saying on it (for proper gaming saltiness), and jeans or yoga pants. Others can schlub about in house-coats or sweats…not me! Comfortable doesn’t need to be slovenly, ROFL

I planned on writing up a schedule for my live gaming broadcasts, but it’s impossible to do with such a temperamental computer. Actually, the computer isn’t temperamental – either the Twitch program decides that it doesn’t want to work some days, or the ESO game itself is! There are always random crashes that happen whilst gaming, especially during ‘special events’ such as the ongoing ‘New Life Festival,’ but they’re expected. When one has been gaming for as long as I have, bugs and crashes are a given – so, we just roll with it and wait out the inevitable patches! Speaking of special stuff…player housing is FINALLY coming to ESO, and I can’t wait – I’m ready to check it out on the Public Test Server (PTS) when it gets loaded there in January! It should be interesting, to say the least. Below is a short video showing some of the houses that will be available.

Well, that’s it from me for now – time for some gaming! If you want to watch, click on the ‘Multimedia Links’ at the top of my blog and find the Twitch channel…if it says ‘LIVE,’ that means I’m online and the programs are cooperating with me, LOL

Otherwise, enjoy these three selected songs…happy Friday, all! Oh, while I’m on the subject of music – please don’t go reading something into the songs that I play. People get all bent out of shape or butthurt over my music, when I’m simply playing what I want to hear, when I want to hear it, if I’ve been inspired by reading or writing! I don’t do hidden meanings – now, if I do a theme-related post, that’s another thing entirely! Talk at you all later…

Or Festivus for the Rest of Us!! LOL!! I bet you’re Standing Tall and Looking Good!! Oughta be in Hollywood with your workout gear! Looks very Fashionable! Last time I worked out was in 2014, wound up snapping my right knee and my P.T. (Physical Therapist) told me that a woman in her 50s cannot take her body back to her dirty 30s! My Personal Trainer told me I could return to 35. That did not work! Nothing high impact for me anymore especially since in the next two years I will enter my sixth decade. Learned my Lesson.

LOL – I don’t mind a Festivus feast from time to time!

My knee aches in sympathy with yours…YOWCH! Sounds very painful – and personal trainers don’t always know best, from what I’ve seen! Only a handful know their salt; the rest are in it for the money, especially the ones who say “oh, just push past the pain – you’ll be FINE!”
I have to take care so that I don’t exacerbate high-school sports injuries, but I think that anyone can be fit at any age! For instance, I did a post a few years back about a Sister in her 70s who kicks ass and takes names – Ms. Ernestine Shepherd, who didn’t start working out until she was 56, and became a pretty well-known bodybuilder! She inspires me quite a bit – I’m almost at the big 4-0, but I don’t dread it much. I still look like I’m in my late 20s, and still feel like a teenager at times, so I agree with what she says: “Age is nothing but a number!”

Yes I’ve read about Ms. Ernestine Shepherd and I greatly admire her. Wish I could do what she does but maybe she had better training than me. Not sure. My injury came using the specific machine where you lift a certain amount of weight with your legs. I heard my new pop but my personal trainer said that I should continue. At the time I was 55. Next Feb. 2017 I will be 58. My doctor told me that after menopause a woman’s body changes and sometimes a woman’s bones can’t support certain types of exercises. Once your body stops producing estrogen then the bone and joint problems begin. For example I cannot do squats. I have arthritis in my joints and now just bending down causes pain. No high impact exercises for me. My mother had osteoporosis. I definitely don’t want to get that. Right now I just do walking with frequent rest stops. Surprisingly I still like to dance and I can still bust a move without busting my poor knees and ankles! LOL!! πŸ™‚ πŸ˜€ When I was your age I did not have these problems. And when I was in the Army about 40 Years ago I was in excellent physical shape!! Oh aging process why are you so cruel? LOL!!

I guess that the aging process is harder on some than on others. Just like some women start getting buttloads of cosmetic surgery in their teens and 20s, and it actually ages them horribly, while other women stay ‘natural’ and age quite gracefully! Lifestyle, stress (or lack thereof), diet, and where a person lives can add to that, also.
On top of all that – good genes help! And, you should know this as well as I: “Black don’t crack!”

Was your personal trainer white and / or female? I have a reason for that question, LOL

No. He was a Black man. After he determined that I couldn’t keep up I was delegated to the Lady trainers both of whom were Black. I wanted to support Black owned Business so naturally I gave him my money. I have no regrets. It was a learning experience.
I can still walk long distance and boogie.
Yes you’re right that melanin works wonders. My joints may be creaky but I still look like I’m in my 40s.

Interesting that he gave you bad advice that was detrimental to you, no? If I ever get a personal trainer, I would get reliable references, first. And online reviews aren’t always honest!

Actually he was recommended by a friend but then again she is much younger than me and in better condition.
Anyway it’s behind me and I won’t be joining any more gyms or doing anymore training because now I can’t. I tell my body to do certain things and it laughs at me! LOL!
