EDITORIAL: Donald Trump Will Be the Next U.S. President; Where Do We Go From Here?

I really needed to read this, just now…so, I’m sharing it.

For personal and political reasons, I was really hoping this morning would never come: a morning where I’d see Donald J. Trump elected to lead this nation as its 45th president. It has come, however, and as I posited in my most recent editorial, What I Want to Be Able to Tell My Children About Their Next President, I was at an initial loss for what to say.

But before I said good-bye to my children this morning, I let them know who won the Presidency.  My seven year-old daughter Phoebe asked, “So it’s all boys?” I responded, “Yes. That’s how the results came in. But that doesn’t mean we stop fighting for what we believe in and what we think will be helpful for most people.  And in four more years…

    Wonderful piece. I am doing my very best to be positive and strong, holding hands with those around me who want ALL of us to move forward and succeed in life…

      Agreed – I’m holding hands with you and yours, figuratively! I’m trying to find the good things, even though I’m raging inside. Amazing that insanity can rule over common sense…but, not surprising.
      This, too, shall pass…just not soon enough.

    Thank you for sharing this lovely post.

    We are still quite traumatized here in Canada and I cannot stop thinking about how heartbroken Mrs Clinton must be. I do hope most sincerely that after hearing her incredibly unselfish and moving speech that a great number of Rep/Ind voters reacted with” What have we done?”

      LOL – if only that would happen…but, Rep / Ind voters aren’t self-aware enough to ask that question. They embraced and supported a man who was endorsed by the Ku Klux Klan. That’s all I have to say on it, and that’s all I will say to any supporter of the Drumpf who dares to get in my face with their ignorant nonsense.
