Colma: The Town of The Dead

This is fascinating…I’ve never heard of Colma! It’s on my list of “must-see” places, now.

South of San Francisco, near Daly City, lies the small town of Colma where the dead outnumbers the living by a thousand to one. Itโ€™s less than 2 square miles in size, but crammed within it are as many as 17 cemeteries where rest the bodies of more than 1.5 million souls.

I got lost there once when I had dropped my sister off for the start of the AIDS ride and once you get in it’s really hard to find your way out and it gets a little creepy when you can’t. It twists and turns on itself and it all starts to look a like because there are so many damn graves

Sounds like my sort of place…I wouldn’t mind getting lost there!

I was getting sick and just wanted to get home to LA so I wasn’t that into it. Normally I would have stopped for a walk. But I had just flown home form an RCGI camp in Michigan and some kid had given me pink eye on the plane and I felt like crap and looked scarier

LOL – understandable! I remember when one of my brothers had pinkeye…it was pretty icky-looking!
If you’d felt better, you probably would have enjoyed it more.

I did stop out of sheer cussedness at the Monterey Bay Aquarium because I had always wanted to see it before having a rather hair raising trip back down to the SF Valley. 6 hours of misery

I hear that the Aquarium in Monterey Bay is one of the nicer ones in the U.S. – hopefully the visit was worth the 6 hours of misery that followed, LOL

Otters are awesome! Jellyfish are pretty cool, too – used to watch them all of the time when I lived on boats.
